I applied the update (both from Sofftware Update and also from a download from VT), my boot ROM version remains at IM71.007A.B00 (on an alum iMac running 10.5.2)

Software Update does not indicate this updater is required. Is there a special ROM version or some such to check/verify?

Apple iMac EFI Firmware Update CommentaryGood For iMac 24" 2.4 GHz - Version: 1.3, 4/8/2008 08:42PM PST

Downloaded from Apple Download, not from software update. Previously installed Aluminum Keyboard update. Both installations made in Safe Mode. Faster boot and certain widget launch times are noticeably shorter, also noticed reduced RAM usage in the short term. Have not had these installations long enough to make a statement related to multiprocess RAM usage or return/release of inactive RAM. Checked most, but not all, keyboard functions with no problems. Option key works. Have not checked all F keys.
