Apple MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Troubleshooting Reportnew EFI firmware not installing may be okay ... - Version: 1.7, 6/24/2009 02:19AM PST

I received a week ago a new MBPro 17" 3,06 which I customized with a Samsung 250Go SSD. After reading complaints about the 1,5 Gbs SATA limitation, I checked system info and found, surprisingly, a nominal 3 Gbs speed. I suspect that some new MacBookPro shipped with the new firmware already installed, or maybe the 17" is not affected ?
So : if the new firmware refuses to install, first check if you really have a 1,5 Gbs limitation ...

Please read the release notes before complaining that it "didn't work"/"already installed".

Each version of the firmware updater is for specific models only.

My MBP already has the stated firmware version, even though I only applied the EFI v1.5 update. Software update didn't say I needed it, and the standalone installer said my machine did not need the update either.

Is it a change in the firmware installer, or to the actual firmware?
