Product Description:

Ubercaster is a complete podcast production suite. It makes it easy for you to produce your podcast show in four simple steps. Each step has its own layer which bundles various functions in an easy to use yet powerful user interface. This makes Ubercaster suitable for both, newbies and advanced podcasters. All you need is Ubercaster, a Macintosh and something to tell...

Features include:
  • iChat, Skype and Gizmo recording
  • Encode podcasts in MP3, (enhanced) AAC or AIFF
  • Real multi track recording and editing
  • Autofade
  • Insert new recordings or overwrite any part of your previous show like in a text document
  • Connect more than one microphone or input device to your Mac
  • Export your show into different formats at once
  • Start and stop audio clips or change volumes without clicking the mouse
  • Upload your show to multiple servers

What's new in this version:

  • New version of PleasantConnect. Install this system extension for recording of audiochats (e.g. Skype or iChat). Sound should be now ok (new buffering strategy). PleasantConnect now provides a feedback channel. Configure this ("Ubercaster Out") as input device in the audiochat application. Your interview partner then not only will hear you but also all sound you produce with Übercaster.
  • PleasantConnect now provides only one universal virtual device (not 3 dedicated devices -iChat, Skype, Gizmo- as before). Use this device (Ubercaster In/Ubercaster Out) with any 3rd party application with configurable sound in/output devices.
  • Improved drag&drop of links from MediaBrowser to chapter table: Just drop a link onto a table row to fill in name and url of the link.
  • Improved drag&drop of chapter images to chapter table: just drop a image onto a table row to set the chapter image.
  • Improved handling of variables on the release layer. Variables are now shown as "tokens" (like mail addresses in Mail.app). There is a set of available tokens in a new section down in the control bar. Just drag and drop variables from there in one of the "variable-enabled" text fields in the Meta data section.
  • Added "Smart Crash Reports" from Unsanity.
  • "Edit recent posts" can now change and delete posts.
  • Restructured application preferences. Added a new tab "Advanced". This now contains the expert settings for "Maximum number of tracks" and "I/O buffer size" (previously on the General tab). Added a new preference for disabling PleasantConnect (when installed).
  • Fixed several leaks and bugs.

Ubercaster CommentaryPrice-Based Only Ratings - Version: 1.5.5, 8/3/2008 10:03PM PST

I am just putting this out here: is it really right to rate a developer's software simply on the cost when others are looking at the rating, seriously, to compare it to other applications?

By using only the price, it brings the software's rating down possibly giving the impression that the software is of lower quality when the situation is that a reviewer simply disagrees with the price. Perhaps a commentary is more in order.

There have been times when I have lowered the rating of software because the software was, indeed, of lower quality or the develop, IMHO, was of lower quality. In any instance, I felt something about the software or the developer was not kosher and others needed to know.

If the developer was manipulating the cost unfairly - by perhaps reneging on a contractual promise, for instance, charging registered users when updates were supposed to be free for a period of time - that developer might need to have his comeuppance.

Anyway, even though I don't like it and don't agree to all of it, it seems that the cost of just about everything in our world has been raised beyond the sky!

To look at a low rating, then find out it was mainly due to a reviewer disagreeing with the price with no instance of abuse stated from that developer can be truly misleading and time-wasting.

It seems like someone finally heard my prayers! This app makes recording podcasts a real pleasure. I've tried several recording programs - nothing comes close to Ubercaster. It bundles all the features a podcaster needs in a beautiful and easy to use Mac application.
Although I'm not really using the live recording feature that much, alone the sophisticated cut layer and the release options make this app worth the money.

Ubercaster ReviewNice... but for that price I get the ENTIRE iLife package! - Version: 0.9 build 280, 1/12/2007 04:06PM PST

Nice app. As the previous reviewer already stated though: the price is too high! For $80 you can get iLife that comes with Garageband, iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb and so forth. Ubercaster should retail for $25.
