- Define multiple microphones and add special input panels for iChat, Skype and Gizmo recording.
- Record audio live.
- Real multi track recording and editing.
- Insert new recordings or overwrite any part of your previous show like in a text document.
- Enhanced podcasts - divide your episode into labeled chapters each provided with pictures and links.
- Encode podcasts as MP3, (enhanced) AAC or AIFF and upload them to web servers (via FTP, .Mac, etc.) at once with a single click.
- Start and stop audio clips or change volumes without clicking the mouse.
- Save your project as an archive which contains all audio you've used in your episode.

What's new in this version:
- PleasantConnect is now able to run in 64-bit environments (aka Snow Leopard).
- PleasantConnect is now included in the Ã?bercaster bundle. Install it with a button click in the Advanced Preferences view. Please update PleasantConnect, if you've already installed an older version! To do so, use the PleasantConnect uninstaller, included on the installation disk in the Extras folder. After restarting the computer, use the new Install PleasantConnect button in the Advanced Preferences view in Ã?bercaster to install the new version.
- Pressing "Backspace" deletes the selected chapter marker when the Chapters subview on the Cut layer is activated (i.e. has the keyboard focus and displays a blue border).
- Fixed several issues with Undo/Redo on the Cut Layer.
- Fixed an issue with parameter windows for non-Cocoa-enabled AudioUnits (e.g. AUPeakLimiter and several 3rd party Audio Units) on Snow Leopard.
- Audio from the Audiochat panel and the Skype panel in the same project are now routed correctly. Audio in from a Skype panel is now also routed to audio out of the Audiochat panel (i.e. "Ubercaster Out") and vice versa.
- Fixed an issue with AAC export when running on SnowLeopard
- Fixed an issue with Skype panels concerning spaces and dashes in telephone numbers.
- Fixed a memory management bug concerning Skype panels (crashed sometimes on hang up).
- Fixed an issue with picking up Skype calls with Skype 2.8 (caused by a bug in Skype 2.8). There's an issue with recording Skype conversations with Skype 2.8: This version doesn't mute internal audio when the audio stream is switched to Ã?bercaster. This is also a bug in Skype 2.8 (we already opened a bug report on this at Skype). Unfortunately there's currently no way to fix this within Ã?bercaster. The workaround for this is to manually set the output volume in Skype to 0 (zero).
- Fixed a GUI problem with the Source subview on Cut layer, when deleting the currently displayed track.
- Fixed a bug which may cause a crash when drawing waveforms on Cut layer in some circumstances.
- Fixed an issue with wave forms. These sometimes disappeared during playing in some zoom levels.
- Improved overall stability.

It seems like someone finally heard my prayers! This app makes recording podcasts a real pleasure. I've tried several recording programs - nothing comes close to Ubercaster. It bundles all the features a podcaster needs in a beautiful and easy to use Mac application.
Although I'm not really using the live recording feature that much, alone the sophisticated cut layer and the release options make this app worth the money.

Nice... but for that price I get the ENTIRE iLife package!

Nice app. As the previous reviewer already stated though: the price is too high! For $80 you can get iLife that comes with Garageband, iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb and so forth. Ubercaster should retail for $25.

By using only the price, it brings the software's rating down possibly giving the impression that the software is of lower quality when the situation is that a reviewer simply disagrees with the price. Perhaps a commentary is more in order.
There have been times when I have lowered the rating of software because the software was, indeed, of lower quality or the develop, IMHO, was of lower quality. In any instance, I felt something about the software or the developer was not kosher and others needed to know.
If the developer was manipulating the cost unfairly - by perhaps reneging on a contractual promise, for instance, charging registered users when updates were supposed to be free for a period of time - that developer might need to have his comeuppance.
Anyway, even though I don't like it and don't agree to all of it, it seems that the cost of just about everything in our world has been raised beyond the sky!
To look at a low rating, then find out it was mainly due to a reviewer disagreeing with the price with no instance of abuse stated from that developer can be truly misleading and time-wasting.
