tlisztInstalling this *upgrade* has broken all of this functionality. ALSO: Within the Acrobat 9 Pro software, you create a PDF by going to the File Menu —> Create PDF —> from file and then select the file you want to convert to a pdf.
This too DOES NOT WORK with any MS-Office document, from either the new Office 2008 for Mac or the prior Office 2004. The error message states: "Acrobat could not open xxxx.docx because it is either not a supported file type..."
Again, NO Office document is supported. THE ONLY WAY to create a PDF is to *PRINT* to the Acrobat 9 printer driver. THIS IS CRAZY. Why would Adobe release an 'upgrade' which breaks functions (and obvious/basic ones at that) from its previous Acrobat 8 Professional software?!!

blizzasterWhen is Adobe ever going to realize that they keep adding stuff on top of stuff to Acrobat, and none of it has any kind of a workflow? Have they ever even tried to make "interactive" Acrobat documents with this thing? Waaaay too many small and poorly designed dialog boxes, way too many clicks, and heaven forbid there are any changes to be made.
It seems like several other Adobe products - they make it, but they don't actually use it. They just keep adding half-baked features with no practical way to get at them. Yes, it is possible to do all of these things, but no, they don't bother to spend any time making it elegant to do so. Not very Mac-like at all. Better off sticking with tools like Preview or Skim.
This is just more Adobe marketing without adding any value.
I'm waiting for Acrobat 10 Pro Extended Super Deluxe 3D Builder.

A new version is another step towards the enlightenment of unaware users. Yet another version of Acrobat, further bloated with more needless bells and whistles, increases the chance that unaware users will begin to recognize the deceptive pattern and begin to realize they deserve and should demand better for their money.
CONS
- Transparent marketing scheme reveals more effort invested in smoke screen than product quality (think introduction of the “CS” racket-ah the Bruce Chizen legacy lives on)
-Upgrade pricing schemes are asinine-why customers put up with it I have no idea
- WIth the currently burgeoning, more sophisticated mobile computing experience, the world is in need of a more optimized format and in turn more responsible tools that don’t promote the addition of senseless, resource wasting features.
- Adobe continuing their love for feature creep

zunipus1) Is Acrobat 9 actually available for Mac OS X today? - YES, but:
- Examining the information Adobe provide about v9 on their website:
- - a) The 'Standard' version is ONLY for Windows (at this point in time).
- - b) The "Pro" version is for Windows or for Mac.
- - c) The "Pro Extended" version is ONLY for Windows (at this point in time).
2) Is Acrobat 9 Pro (the only Mac version so far) specifically compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard? - YES.
3) Has Acrobat 9 actually caught up to Mac OS X Cocoa 64 bit computing? - NO.
- I can't find any indication that Adobe have caught up with Mac OS X yet.
- Adobe point out that the Windows version can run in either the 64 bit or 32 bit versions of Windows, but I don't care. Where is the 64 bit Mac version?
Happy Smiley Stuff about the "Pro" version:
- The MOSX version requires 1.42 GB of HD space.
- The Windows version requires 2.13 GB of HD space. - HA HA!
My POV = I'm gonna wait for the Cocoa 64 bit version.

200$ to upgrade from 6 month old V8?!! - Version: 9.0, 6/26/2008 01:24PM PST

cravencondorhowever $200 to upgrade from 6 month old professional version is criminal
I can vaguely understand that itunes confines people to purchasing a download from the store in their own country due to copy write problems on third party products, but why do Adobe do it? The cost from UK store is bout twice the price of the US, although as the dollar strengthens the difference is shrinking Acrobat Pro from US $449 from the UK UKP522 (as of today that is = US$850) for a download.
