Product Description:

ZeusDraw is a vector drawing program with a graceful interface, a more intuitive approach to paths and great brushes. . Using ZeusDraw's brushes, you see a close approximation to the final brush stroke as you draw, not a dotted line that is filled in later.

Features:

  • ZeusDraw has vector brushes and textured, pixel-based brushes that remain objects which can be selected, edited (path and attributes), moved, scaled and rotated.

  • Easy to use path tools. Points are entered in order and can be edited at any time while the path is being created.

  • Gradients can be edited live, in-place on the objects they fill.

  • Multi-Copy tool to place multiple copies along a line, an arc, a circle or a path.

  • No text boxes. ZeusDraw has in-place editing of text, even if it has been scaled sheared or rotated.

  • Construction and layout aids: Snap to Grid, Snap to Path, Snap to Point, Snap to Angle and automatic alignment guides.

  • By gesture or by the numbers. ZeusDraw allows precise setting of the size and position of objects.

  • Actual size viewing.

  • No size limits. If you're making a banner or a billboard, ZeusDraw will work for you.

  • E-mail artwork from within the program.

  • Color Picker. ZeusDraw comes with a lite version of Shades ColorPicker

What's new in this version:

ZeusDraw ReviewAn Excellent Start - Version: 1.0, 11/2/2006 05:07PM PST

I've been using ZeusDraw since pre-release days, and I'm very pleased by it. The tools are well thought out, the interface is clean, and it launches quickly (unlike a certain other vector graphics app). The developer is responsive, friendly, and very helpful. I would recommend that any Mac user who needs to create high-quality vector art take a look at ZeusDraw.

ZeusDraw Developer Note"Creating Font Images" dialog doesn't go away - Version: 1.0, 11/1/2006 09:41AM PST

This is indeed caused by a font with problems. We thought we'd seen all the ways fonts could be bad, but with the wider release, we discovered a new one. The font is probably reporting that it would draw with zero height.

A fix will be out in a day or so. Please check back.

There are some interesting ideas and features, but of course lots of places to grow, too. (It's 1.0, of course) Some of the methods that vary from the "usual" aren't clearly "better" to me, but ease of use is better than some of the more intense pro draw apps.

I wanted to mention that on my machine the type tool's "Creating Font Images" dialog box stops making prgress about 90% across and stays there. I'm guessing that some old font of mine is choking it -- maybe it could skip a font after a certain time and just go on? I can still make type, but the dialog stays up until I quit, to start again the next time the type tool is selected.

Draw apps are a crowded market, but with development and good marking, who knows... I wish you luck.
