Great, but old-school - Version: 1.1.1, 6/22/2009 01:09PM PST

This program is nearly perfect. It's good and it does want it should do, the price is perfect for what it does.
But why doesn't it support multicore CPUs ? I'm running this on my MBP 2,4 GHz and it's using 99% of just one cpu core. The fans are screaming like hell while compressing a 5 hour audiobook. That's the only drawback. Even on my MacPro with all of it's cores this program just uses one. Just imagine how fast it *coult* be :)

This is by far the most useful piece of shareware I have ever downloaded for personal use (I couldn't live without Passenger at work). I tried the demo by putting together a 2-disc audio book in 19 minute chunks (the unregistered version has a 20 minute limit). It worked flawlessly, so I gladly paid the 10 dollars and began building usable files. I had many audio books that I had ripped from CD's and ended up with many files that were a pain to keep track of on my iPod. If you copy your audiobook cd's to your iPod, you MUST buy this. It will be the best 10 dollars you ever spend!!
Listen to audiobooks? Would you like to? This is a must!

A must for anyone with an iPod or iPhone looking to listen to audiobooks. Make making books from all sorts of sources easy for yourself!
My commutes to and from work are too short thanks to Audiobook Builder!

Rebuild old, incompatible Audiobooks automatically - Version: 1.0.11, 9/15/2008 02:28AM PST

"What's new in this version 1.0.11:
Compatibility fix so Audiobooks play properly under iPhone OS 2.x"
Does this mean, all AudioBooks made with Versions BEFORE 1.0.11
do NOT play properly under iPhone OS 2.x?
If that would be the case, the Programmer MUST give us a feature in 1.0.12,
that allows rebuilding an Audiobook, without it being necessary for us users,
to do anything else, than, to give the one order to automatically rebuild to a new,
compatible Version of the incompatible AudioBook.

Great App, but some refinement would be nice ...

It would be great, if we could edit more ID3-tag-Infos
when preparing the AudioBook.
Now, when we want to have these infos inside the AudioBook,
we have to take the already "ready" AudioBook,
a second time "into our hands",
and edit it in iTunes, what is very time consuming.
The programmers should let us edit not only Titel and Author,
but also
Year, Genre, Comment, Album, etc.
when preparing the AudioBook.

Does What it Says!

Rather than repeat what has already been said, I will just add an amen to the previous reviews. Audiobook Builder works as described. Simple and effective. Use it with M4PConverter and it'll pay for itself. Save $ and the planet by not wasting CDs to burn legally owned media - only to import back to a HD for storage.
A Real Winner

This program is excellent. I've used it to generate dozens of audiobooks from all sorts of sources: lectures, CDs, MP3s. When used with Audio Hijack Pro, you can capture material from nearly any audio souce: input from a cassette tape, websites, etc. It is flexible and easy to use. I'm lovin’ it.

Works perfectly. Drag files from ripped CD's and it combines. Can add art work also. Just what I needed.
More useful than expected

I bought this being frustrated with making multiple CD's of "The Chronicles of Narnia" into an audio book. I felt it was worth buying the program, thinking I would only use it a few times. However, I find myself using it way more than what I expected. It's easy to use and seriously expedites the process of making bookmarkable audio books. I think the featured set is quite adequate. Furthermore, the developer was responsive to questions I was having to troubleshoot an issue.
I can't compare this product to others since this is the one one of it's kind that I've come across or used.
