Do not eject your iPod shuffle when this program is working. I inadvertently did and now my iPod shuffle is dead. It does not even show up in the finder any more and neither the iPod software updater nor the iPod shuffle Reset Utility are able to fix it.

My Shuffle has not worked in "shuffle" mode for quite some time. It does, however, work in the middle mode (ordered playback). When I try to play it in shuffle mode, the light blinks, nothing else. I tried installing the restore 3 times--nothing doing.

Wow. I had always assumed I had destroyed my iPod Shuffle while jogging, because it just froze up about 5 months ago and wouldn't register in itunes. Thought I'd give this a whirl, and sure enough, 5 minutes later it is back to normal. Directions are a bit confusing, but just do what it tells you and don't worry.
Works Perfectly!!!!

Finally! Its been a long time since issues with the 1st Gen shuffle have been reported, especially the dreaded green-amber blink of death. Apple community forums have been reporting this and other related problems for nearly a year.
The tool worked perfectly for me. The only confusing part is at the end when the utility asks for the shuffle to be unplugged and replugged. Otherwise, a heaven sent utility for restoring a dud to a working player again.

Luckily I didn't throw it away, because this application has restored it to perfection. Many thanks Apple developers!
