Product Description:

The iPod shuffle Reset Utility restores First Generation iPod shuffle. The restore process completely erases all music and data on iPod shuffle and reinstalls software version 1.1.4. iPod shuffle Reset Utility is only for First Generation 512MB and 1GB iPod shuffle. Any other iPod, including Second Generation iPod shuffle is not supported.

Use the iPod shuffle Reset Utility to fix the following issues:
  • With the iPod shuffle switched on, pressing the Play button will cause amber and green LEDs to flash for a few seconds, and the unit will not play any music, nor can you sync music to it from iTunes.
  • On a Windows PC, iPod shuffle will appear in My Computer as a Ã?¢â?¬Ã??Removable Disk,Ã?¢â?¬? however the iPod shuffle volume will not mount correctly. The unit is listed in Device Manager under Ã?¢â?¬Ã??Disk DrivesÃ?¢â?¬? as Ã?¢â?¬Ã??Apple iPod USB Device.Ã?¢â?¬?
  • On a Mac, the unit will only be recognized in Apple System Profiler under Hardware -> USB and will not appear or mount in the Finder.
  • When attempting to restore, the unit may not be recognized at all. However, if it is recognized, the restore may fail with an error dialog Ã?¢â?¬Ã??Firmware update failure. Disk write errorÃ?¢â?¬? or another error. It may take 3 restore attempts before the error appears. Note: iPod shuffle may take several minutes to be recognized.

My Shuffle died six months ago when I was updating its software, and I was unable to revive it using the various tips on Apple's support site.
Luckily I didn't throw it away, because this application has restored it to perfection. Many thanks Apple developers!

Do not eject your iPod shuffle when this program is working. I inadvertently did and now my iPod shuffle is dead. It does not even show up in the finder any more and neither the iPod software updater nor the iPod shuffle Reset Utility are able to fix it.

Apple iPod shuffle Reset ReviewNot working - Version: 1.0, 10/26/2006 03:00PM PST

My Shuffle has not worked in "shuffle" mode for quite some time. It does, however, work in the middle mode (ordered playback). When I try to play it in shuffle mode, the light blinks, nothing else. I tried installing the restore 3 times--nothing doing.
