Product Description:

dotNotes is very much like Apple's Stickies application, but it has an additional feature which enables you to synchronize your notes over several machines using your iDisk storage (in order to use iDisk, you must be a .Mac member). And, of course, you can use dotNotes locally on a single machine just like Stickies, too.

What's new in this version:

This is a maintenance release with following fixes:
  • Fixed the issue that note windows could be resized larger than screen.
  • Fixed the issue that note windows could be dragged out of screen bounds

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later
  • .Mac account (if you want to use the sync feature).

dotNotes ReviewThank you! - Feel like writing a password app that will sync? - Version: 1.1.1, 9/22/2007 06:45PM PST

I don't know why more apps don't sync with .mac but I'm very glad this one does. There's not much to say except it works and enables users to access their notes - whichever machine they are using. The lack of syching seems like an obvious oversight by Apple, to me. After all, the very nature of stickies - little reminders and snippets of info we haven't had time to process - means they're not very useful if they're left at the office, or at home! It's kinda' like tying the old string to your finger and not being able to see the string!

Thank you for this app. Now if only someone would write a password storage app that will sync. Or at the least, figure out a way to lock a group within address book so passwords could be synched and secure.

dotNotes ReviewHelpful with a few suggestions - Version: 1.1.1, 7/20/2007 10:27AM PST

HI, i've been looking for the ability to synch my stickies across my PB which I use back and forth between my office and on the road, and my G5 tower, which is my main machine in my home office and I use when I'm WFH. dotNotes fits the bill. I don't find the "upload/download" feature troublesome. You can enable dotNotes to upload (i.e. syncronize) on application exit, so this makes it more regular. That said, a regular scheduler might be a nice add-on feature. It synched the notes I had created on my PB with my G5 seamlessly and quickly as expected. 1 thing I noticed is that if you "show fonts" to do some formatting, when you close the font dialogue box dotNotes thinks it's still open. "Hide fonts" is shown in the menu drop-down. Small bug. I like the idea the other reviewed had about foldering or nesting notes.

dotNotes ReviewGood application that fits my needs… - Version: 1.1, 4/23/2007 09:54AM PST

I was looking for a simple application that would allow me to synchronize small text snippets and URLs between work and home using my .Mac account. While several applications do this and more (Yojimbo, SOHO Notes, and others), they were more than I wanted. dotNotes is *almost* perfect for what I want.

My only two complaints are (1) dotNotes replaces the information on .Mac rather than synchronizes changes, and (2) the “Upload” and “Download” options seems a little out-of-place. I would prefer that dotNotes just synch on a regular schedule, similarly to other .Mac synching applications.

Give it a try!

Best wishes,
Clint
