Zimbra Collaboration Suite CommentaryIs this the swan song for Zimbra? - Version: 5.0.2, 2/1/2008 12:00AM PST

Although I have not tried version 5 yet, I have experienced versions 3 through to 4.5. It is probably the most awesome mail server out there at the moment.
However, since Zimbra was recently bought by Yahoo, and it becomes more and more evident in recent news that Yahoo are about to be swallowed by Micro$oft, I fear Zimbra is on its way to become a footnote in MS next Exchange server's ass.

If you are looking for a new email/colaboration suite, look no further. With the new release of 5.0, you have everything that outlook/exchange has to offer and then some at about 1/5 the cost. From start of instal to working mail server is less than 30 minutes. Try that on a new instal of exchange.

Highly recommended for all use.

The website and accompanying literature promises a lot but for some reason, I can't see an executable file (or link) that will work on my Mac. I have an Intel MacBook Pro with all of the latest updates for Tiger, including Java. On a similar note, I find that many apps that are supposed to run via Java and are proven to work on Macs simply do nothing on my machine!! If I could solve this Java problem, there is a whole universe of potentially great apps that I could run (eg Pentaho Business Intelligence - see Sourceforge)
