Letter Opener Commentary30.00?? - Version: 3.0.3, 11/9/2009 03:15AM PST

I know people do these things to make a buck but 30 of them for a plug-in? I don't think so. I'd rather email them back and tell them to dump their PCs or send it back to me in a different format.

TNEF's Enough does the same job, works under Leopard (10.5.7) and is free.

TNEF's Enough is a stand-alone app, rather than a plugin, so it's not as convenient, but it works.

Letter Opener CommentaryBut… - Version: 2.1.0, 4/22/2009 03:05AM PST

I know that the subject 'price' is always conflictive and very subjective.
The app does indeed what it says and, for me, it has worked flawlessly.
There is indeed a lot of hard working hours of software development.
And I would have no problem in recommending it.
But…
Personally, I REPEAT, personally, I find 20 bucks for a plug-in a bit stiff…

[By the way, how can I uninstall the plug-in? There is no info available…]

Letter Opener Commentaryworks like a charm ;-) - Version: 1.7.7, 4/6/2009 06:00AM PST

super product (5 stars!!), does exactly what it should. Automatically decodes and displays winmail.dat attachments as standard word, excel, etc. files. was scanning google for a long time for such a product, much better and more reliable than TNEF's Enough

This is such a useful tool... but only for people running older versions of the operating system. Please consider creating a Leopard-compatible version of OMiC.

Handling winmail.dat files has been a persistent problem until I started using this application. This app is essential, the best in its class. The developer is very responsive, as well.

Before I used OMiC I used TNEF's Enough. It did the job, but its barebones approach became tiresome after a while. The big problem with it was lack of support for long file names, so most file names were shortened and DOS-like, not truly reflecting their original names. In addition, TNEF's Enough was not transparent, since it was not integrated with my e-mail client. You had to download the file, then open it with a second step. OMiC solves all these problems in a seamless fashion.

I'd never imagine telling a client to reformat mail. However, I do not use Apple Mail, so this application is of no use to me. I generally simple tell clients I can't read the attachment, would they mind sending it again. 99.9% of my clients do not take this in a bad manner and do not think I'm "stupid" or telling them they are. But then again, I choose not to work with people are THAT judgmental.
