The Unarchiver Troubleshooting ReportIt used to work... now it's broken. - Version: 2.0.1, 8/30/2009 07:40AM PST

tonton--2008
I have used this program for months and months with no problem. After the 2.0 upgrade, I suddenly cannot open certain password protected .zip files I had no problem with in the past. How do I downgrade to 1.6?

I got this to open a .sit file -- I didn't want any more of that stuffit stuff for me on my hard drive.

The first time I ran it it put up a preferences window with a checkbox for each of the formats it could handle. I checked the checkbox for .sit files.

Then when I opened my .sit file it went directly into The Unarchiver and it opened it with no problem.

So, for my simple use, the app could not have been easier or worked better.

Love this program - but I can't believe it won't crack SITX. PullEEEEZ don't make me go back to (dare I say it) STUFFIT just to open these cursed files.

The Unarchiver Troubleshooting ReportBehaving odd under 10.5 - Version: 1.6, 12/23/2007 03:35PM PST

For some reason launch services in 10.5 refuse to allow setting The Unarchiver as a default application for .zip or any other files.

If I set a .zip file to be opened with The Unarchiver in the file's info window and click "change all", the "open with:" popup reverts to apples Archive Utility.

Stuffit support is preliminary. It looks like SITX archives are not supported. Any plans on this?

The Unarchiver CommentaryBeautiful! - Version: 1.6, 11/5/2007 03:59PM PST

nemodomi
Just beautiful. Effortlessly handled a huge (1.22 GB) Zip file that the latest version of Stuffit Expander (12) kept choking on (at varying points in the attempt, BTW -- go figure).

The Unarchiver CommentaryFails at DiskDoubler - Version: 1.6, 10/18/2007 10:50AM PST

This product lists DiskDoubler as a filetype it can unarchive. However, on an Intel MacBook it could not. Called it an "unknown format," etc. This is the only filetype i was interested in using it for, o i can't address whatever else it can do. Dang--I was hoping it would work on DD.

i have been dealing with the garbage stuffit for some time now, i recently did a re-install of my os and decided to scour the net looking for alternatives, all i have to say is i have never been so impressed with such an unknown gem of mac software, this thing handles everything and dosent take over your system like stuffit (thats the reason i dont use windows anymore), and best of all its open source (my favorite kind of software, not because it free, but because it was designed to work instead of make a profit).

Yes, this software does have problems with some kinds of RAR files, but whatever, i dont care as long as i dont have to install stuffit again!
