PandoraBoy Usage TipPandoraBoy Monopolizes the Remote - Version: 0.6.0, 12/27/2008 03:27PM PST

Edwin-schemer
PandoraBoy 0.6.0 works fine, but even if you uncheck the box in the Preferences, it will still use (and monopolize) the Apple remote, thus preventing its use as volume control, in iTunes, or in Skim. This needs to be fixed!

PandoraBoy ReviewGreat update - Version: 0.6.0, 12/26/2008 11:16PM PST

Pandora had an update on there side that broke PandoraBoy functionality for Ver. 0.5.2.

i.e. It essentially made PandoraBoy a browser window that hot keys, apple remote, etc. would not work on

The 0.6.0 update updates PandoraBoy to work properly with the Pandora updates and restores all previous functionality. Only thing bad was it was a little slow to be released.

This application is very cool. It uses the apple remote, which is very useful, as I always use my apple remote to control itunes, but now I have started using pandora. Best of all, its free! As the person above me said, it would be nice if it looked a bit better, but it is very good as it is.

PandoraBoy CommentaryMemory Leak? - Version: 0.1, 9/23/2006 01:22PM PST

There seems to be a memory leak with PandoraBoy. I've monitored the application through Activity Monitor and noticed that it uses up more and more memory even when the player is paused. The rate of memory usage seems to be a constant rate at about 100Kb/s, so after about minute memory usage has increased by about 6MB. At one point PandoraBoy was using 200MB of real memory and almost 1GB of virtual memory. I'm using PandoraBoy on a Powerbook G4 1.5 with 1.25GB of RAM running on 10.4.7.

PandoraBoy ReviewSolid start to what will be a great program - Version: 0.1, 9/11/2006 12:22PM PST

I'm a big fan of Wincent's Synergy program that lets you control iTunes using hotkeys. This program does the same with Pandora. It's simple to use and does exactly what's promised. It's obviously still very young, and it could use a few more polishes to the interface (I'm not a fan of the logo). But it's a solid start, and I think Pandora users will find this program invaluable.
