  • Continued ability to apply every tool non-destructively (Requires the user to save their image with NEF. Original file can be JPEG, TIFF, or NEF). Selective tools such as the Selection Brush and Selection Gradient that can be used to selectively apply any of the enhancements.
  • 25 new tools and enhancements, ranging from the Black, White, and Neutral Control Point tools that enable the user to remove color casts and set their image's dynamic range, to the Distortion Correction enhancement that enables the user to reduce barrel and pincushion type distortions in their images.

What's new in this version:

  • Support for optional Picture Controls has been added. A dedicated button for downloading optional Picture Controls using the Picture Control Utility has been added. When downloaded optional Picture Controls files are installed, they are added to the Picture Controls available in the Picture Control palette opened from " Base Adjustments > Camera Adjustments > Picture Control " in the Capture NX Edit List, as well as to the Stored Picture Controls in the Picture Control Utility.
  • The names of the following colored gel filters, which can now be used with the Speedlight SB-900, are added to the " Flash " submenu in the White Balance palette opened from " Base Adjustments > RAW Adjustments > White Balance " in the Edit List:
  • FL-G1 /  FL-G2: filter for fluorescent light.
  • TN-A1 / TN-A2: filter for incandescent light.
  • A Colored Gel Filter item has been added to the Shooting Info area in the Camera Settings palette.
  • When a new white balance setting was applied with selection of " Calculate Automatically " from the New WB pulldown menu in the White Balance palette opened from " Base Adjustments > RAW Adjustments > White Balance " in the Edit List, and " Set Gray Point " then selected from the " Set Color Temperature / Set Gray Point " pulldown menu, the values for the " Red " and " Blue " sliders remained at 1. This issue has been resolved.
  • An issue that caused the white balance setting specified in step 1 with the operation described below to be displayed as the current white balance setting in the New WB pulldown menu has been resolved:
    1. A new white balance setting was applied from the New WB pulldown menu in the White Balance palette opened from " Base Adjustments > RAW Adjustments > White Balance " in the Edit List, and the image then saved in NEF format,
    2. The newly saved image was opened again and the white balance setting changed to " Recorded Value ", selected from the New WB pulldown menu, and the image again saved in NEF format,
    3. The image opened again.
  • When RAW images captured with the D3 or D300 at sensitivity settings in the LO range were opened, they were completely black. The issue has been resolved.
  • When RAW images captured at some preset manual white balance settings were opened, they were incorrectly displayed with lines or bands, or completely white. This issue has been resolved.

Nikon Capture NX ReviewNikon Message Center.... - Version: 1.3.4, 7/17/2008 10:45PM PST

Jedih
Can't download this update via Nikon Message Center as it hangs after downloading 60%. And if I download the dmg file which Versiontracker provides here, the Nikon installer then tells me that it can't find any Capture NX on my Mac, even though it's right there in my apps folder.

Nikon - try to make a decent software for ones!

Nikon Capture NX CommentarySame Old problems - Version: 1.3.3, 4/16/2008 07:24AM PST

I am still using 1.3.1 because the 1.3.2 update did not work and now the 1.3.3 update did not work. In both cases they could not find Capture NX. I dl the update from here and from the Nikon site and had the same results.

Here the update is said to be compatible with Os 10.5 Intel but at the Nikon site only OS 10.3.9 and 10.4.11 are mentioned.

My Capture NX was included with my D300, could this be at least part of the reason?

While v slow I do like the software but these update problems are frustrating.
