Product Description:

Listen to all 59 of the BBC's national, regional and local radio streams, right on your Dashboard. Includes comprehensive live schedule information, Flash streaming option (option-click the "i" button) and even a RealPlayer workaround so you only lose a couple of seconds audio when leaving Dashboard.

This widget is completely free, but donations are gratefully accepted on the author's website.

What's new in this version:

  • Added new RealPlayer streams for national stations, after the BBC apparently changed their minds about removing them (Flash is still default)
  • Fixed compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4
  • Widget falls back to Flash if RealPlayer is selected but not installed

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

Unless, of course, the audio came from some completely other source, (which now seems likely — blush) in which case I apologize.

Just as one should not email a large attachment (specially to some hapless bugger who has only a dial-up connection) before asking, it is totally inappropriate to push audio to unsuspecting people as opposed to providing a link to click to receive the audio. I'm in a quiet hospital environment and I did not appreciate music shouting out of my computer's speak as soon as I came to this page.

I was already in a grumpy mood, having just finished submitting a complaint to BBC. I defy anyone to find where or how to do this in under 30 minutes, using their hopelessly-confusing and deliberately-unhelpful web site. That's how their flagship tech program Click can get away with telling the world that Apple operates a DRM system at the iTunes Music Store, and criticizes Apple for it.
