Cuckoo ReviewSimple, just works - Version: 1.2.1, 5/12/2008 03:39PM PST

It does exactly what you'd expect, has a nice and simple preferences interface, and it's tiny. A welcome desktop companion.

I had separate chimes for each quarter hour with OS 9 too. I even downloaded a proper clock sound and had that chime as many times as the hour was. But OS X has the ability to tell me what the time is every quarter hour. You soon learn to ignore a mere computer sound--though it's harder to ignore one that repeats--but it's not so easy to miss a voice telling you what the time is! I think I'll stick to the voice.

This is a great little pref pane. To the author: please, if you can, make it so one may assign DIFFERENT sounds for each time period.

I have found "Cuckoo - Mac OS X" functions as promised. It is simple. It is a delight. There are two different cuckoo sounds plus those more typical of Mac OS Xs. I now only await a version in which the cuckoo will call out "cuckoo hours." (Whitney Gordon)

I’m glad someone finally has created this. I’ve missed this functuality since upgrading to OS X. One thing I’d like to see to bring full (OS9) level functuality is to allow a specific sound to be assigned to each part of the hour. One sound for the top of the hour, one for a quarter passed, half passed and a quarter to.

Almost all the functions are dimmed for unregistered users. The trial is meaningless.

I paid for this yesterday. Now the question is, how long before they send the registration code?

Quick Question: Does this software include a true cuckoo clock like sound among its options?
