Product Description:

Afloat is a Cocoa plug-in that adds both useful window management and nice eye candy to most Mac applications. It can keep windows on top, make them transparent or unclickable, and more.

What's new in this version:

This new version of the Afloat package includes the same version of Afloat 2.0 that was previously available. It also includes PlugSuit 1.5.5, the new version of the PlugSuit plug-in manager and loader.

PlugSuit 1.5.5 fixes a bug that prevented certain third-party extenders, such as Blacktree's Vision, from working correctly. For more information, see PlugSuit's release notes.

This update is not required for all users of Afloat, but is recommended to users that also use third-party extenders with PlugSuit alongside Afloat.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 or later

Afloat ReviewNot really working... - Version: 2.1.1, 6/18/2009 04:49AM PST

After trying Afloat I uninstalled it. Nice idea but not really working. Even Afloat's (nice) configuration window was not floating above the other windows so I had to "digg" for it.

When trying to pin Pathfinder to the desktop to avoid vanishing Pathfinder in Exposé - Pathfinder disappeared. When trying to show EventBox's Heads Up window in all spaces - Afloat failed.

Since the developer neglected to include a "What's New" entry when updating, here's the skinny:

Pin to Desktop: Choose Window > Adjust Effects and select Pin to Desktop to pin any window to the desktop. It will remain "glued" to the desktop's wallpaper, just below desktop icons, and is accessible when using Exposé to reveal the desktop.
Resize Anywhere: Hold down the Command key and Control key and drag a window with the right mouse button (or with two fingers on the trackpad) to resize it.
