FStream ReviewGood player, but has some bugs - Version: 1.3.5, 3/22/2008 01:32PM PST

I've used FStream for a while now, and it's useful for listening to various stations. I'll have to give it 1 star though, since it does work partially, but most functions don't work at all. I have tried re-installing FStream, but nothing changed. It does connect to streams surprisingly fast.

1. The controller window ALWAYS says disconnected, even while I'm listening to the radio. If I click the left arrow, the controller says Connecting, then changes back to Disconnected.

2. Since the controller doesn't work properly, neither does the Reload function with modifier "r" key.

3. Steams will not play from anywhere but the Preset window. If I open the Quick Open box and paste an URL from my Radio tab, nothing happens. If I click the top button on the right side of the controller window, the menu opens, displaying some options and all the stations in my Radio tab. If I select one of those stations in that menu, nothing happens. If I select the same station in the Preset tab, it plays fine.

4. The equalizer does nothing to the sound output. The buttons move when I switch settings, but the sound doesn't change.

5. The record feature doesn't work properly. When I click the record button, a file is created in the chosen folder, but the file size stays at zero, and FStream's display never moves from zero.

6. What is the Radio tab good for? All it is is a list of stations I like. This would seem to be a Favorites list, which would make perfect sense, except that you can't choose one and make it play. To do that, you must go back to the Preset tab where you must find it again and then start it. To have a tab just to store station names seems ridiculous.

7. It would be nice if, after opening FStream, it would quickly scan all the stations, then ONLY display those stations currently active and with a good connection. While most streams play fine, I've clicked on many, just to have them not play at all, or only play intermittently. I have the buffer size set on Large, and the Reload factor at 50%, though different Reload settings produced no noticeable results.

FStream CommentaryFull screen still needs some work - Version: 1.3.4, 1/22/2008 12:00AM PST

OK this fix makes full screen better but I still can't read long song names, and the radio station names all still get cut off. I increased my screen res but can you make the font smaller? Perhaps a user option to change the font size? Minor carping tho as this app rocks!
