Screen Watchdog Usage TipPerfect ... - Version: 0.1, 7/8/2007 04:03AM PST

I use this for crap browser (java, etc.) Chat windows that some companies use for (cough) "support" and it lets me walk away from the computer and when the tech support finally responds (the chat window changes and screen watchdog observes it) I have watchdog trigger a loud sound (through applescript) that alerts me to come back to the computer. Otherwise, I used to miss the support person when they'd finally "pop up" and they would terminate the chat before I could realize their lame asses were finally ready. Am I bitter? Yar... still a little, but at least now I have yet another weapon in my arsenal against corporate mediocrity that would waste my time if they could get away with it. Thank you, screen watchdog. BTW, yes.. I should probably figure out a way to get this to work with growl or whatever, but I am too lazy and my solution works fine for me.

Wow!

I haven't yet need to use this, but there are many possibilities. You could use it with PhotoBooth as a simple security camera. You could use it to monitor when some big processing job is done in an application that doesn't have built-in notification.

The fact that you can run an Applescript means you could do almost anything: send an email, post to a blog, play music, etc.

Added to my toolbox. Not sure what additional features could be added, but this does a lot already. Perhaps ability to set multiple watchers, or even create little stand-alone watchers.
