Altiverb is praised universally by all the audio professionals I know. And that is dozens. No, I don't own it myself, but if I come into some money, I know it is a good choice.
the best

don´t compare it. not with hardware, not with spacedesigner, not with any other plug-in. it is a very special piece of software that sounds fantastic and has the best IRs by far.
i use it since it came out and it never let me down. the people at audio ease are driven maniacs who are fast and friendly. not many companies around that made such an impression on me.

Altiverb sounds great and is very controllable. I wish software like this had some way of payment for use. Like having a license for non-commercial use, or a semi-commercial use. It would be great to use this for minor projects, but I can't justify the cost unless I am doing serious paid work. I'd easily throw them some money if I could get the software for less, and I'd easily be willing to pay the full price if I ended up using it for serious commercial work. Anyway, there doesn't exist any software or hardware that is superior to Altiverb. What it does, it does the best. And that includes recreating reverb of Notre Dame cathedral, EMI Studios, a hardware unit, or even something imaginary that otherwise couldn't exist.
