FileCutter Troubleshooting ReportFollow-up on FileCutter and Snow Leopard - Version: 1.3.4, 9/21/2009 05:42AM PST

After hammering at this (along with some other projects) for a couple of weeks I've determined that FileCutter cannot be reimplemented using Snow Leopard's "replacement" for the context menu plugin mechanism. I will be making available for registered users a package that restores a small subset of FC's functionality under 10.6. I think it will still be useful. But please do not register FileCutter if you have Snow Leopard or expect to upgrade in the near future.

FileCutter Developer NoteFC fails under Leopard - Version: 1.3.2, 10/26/2007 06:18PM PST

Nothing harmful. It just doesn't work because Apple changed the structure of the context information passed along to plugins in a way that isn't compatible with how I was extracting it. I've got a new version working here and should post it in a day or so after I've had more chance to revalidate it on pre-10.5 systems.

FileCutter CommentaryMay delete Spotlight Comments (?) - Version: 1.2.2, 4/2/2007 08:13PM PST

When using the "Cut" command I found that Spotlight Comments are deleted. Oddly, dragging the "Cut" file back the original destination makes the Comments reappear. But then they disappear again when the "Cut" command again on the same file. Not absolutely sure if this is a major issue or not, but I thought you should be aware of this potential problem (which is a common problem with most of these "Move File" programs, anyway).
