System locks up after installation

No cursor. No response to any key.
Can only turn off and turn on.
For me, this firmware update is a disaster.
Now, if I can only find a way to back it out.
Blessings to those that do not have problems.

System *seems* to go for longer periods without the fan kicking on. That is completely subjective, though.

bothausThe updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder and will launch automatically. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the update process.

Was advised by Apple support to:
Remove the ethernet driver from the "Network" preference panel (this is on the left side of the panel - remove using the '-' key)
Re-add the ethernet driver (using the "+" key) and make sure that it is active (it may say "not connected" but it is still 'active')
Close the preference panels and restart just to make sure that all the software connections are made.
Problem went away for me.
