CoreDuoTemp Reviewseems to cause instability for me - Version: 1.0, 11/1/2006 10:31AM PST

I tried this on a new 24" iMac and a 15" MBP. I would often get unexpected quits from applications other than CDT for seemingly no reason- sometimes as often as a dozen times a day ;-(. I re-installed the 10.4.8 combo update, repaired permissions, tried another user, et. al.

These were relatively clean installs and only CDT and EarthDesk were installed. I disabled CDT on the MBP and Earthdesk on the iMac. Apps on the iMac still crashed. I disabled CDT on both Macs and I'm only getting unexpected quits maybe once a week now.

I like the app and will check it out again in the future, but this version doesn't work for me.

Much improved from the Password days. Does what it's meant to do with no problems on this MBP.

CoreDuoTemp ReviewNot a bad improvement over before - Version: 0.91, 7/3/2006 12:46PM PST

There's no more admin password, but I'm still wondering why it needs an installer. Also, the English localization is pretty poor, it defaults to checking for updates on startup (I really wish applications asked me first), and it doesn't remember the temperature unit setting in the preferences between launches (I set it to Fahrenheit and it reverts to Celsius when restarting the app, but only in the preferences).

But it does seem to work without admin access this time.

CoreDuoTemp CommentaryDoesn't work with Macbook - Version: 0.9, 6/22/2006 07:24PM PST

It didn't install SpeedIt, so I installed it separately. It really isn't correct to say this ap doesn't work on the Macbook--it's SpeedIt that doesn't work. Whenever anything
does a sysctl to inquire from Speedit, the UI hangs for from one to three minutes. *Very* irritating. Also, the temp
reported appears to be wrong--it was reporting 120 F and then
after sleeping for a half hour, it was up to 135. This seems
unlikely. Again, this is a SpeedIt problem, not a Core Due Temp problem.

CoreDuoTemp ReviewDitto on that it doesn't install SpeedIt - Version: 0.9, 6/14/2006 02:20AM PST

There's an error when you launch the app that SpeedIt isn't installed (even though it's supposed to do it for you). 2 stars for this version because it doesn't work, 4 stars for the previous version... stick with 0.8 until this bug is fixed.

FYI, when I tried to install SpeedIt 0.5, OS X would hang intermittently which led me to uninstall SpeedIt 0.9 right away.

I'm on a MacBook 1.83.

CoreDuoTemp Commentary0.9 won't install SpeedIt? - Version: 0.9, 6/8/2006 05:31AM PST

I've used this app successfully in the past... and SpeedIt is installed... but when I start 0.9, I get a message that SpeedIt is not installed and that I should re-install CoreDuoTemp... an endless cycle! Very frustrating as this is one little utility that I've liked to keep running from time to time. Even tried individually installing SpeedIt. No go!

Any help from anyone? I've tried it on two MBPs now... something seems 'broken'.
