PDFClerk CommentaryOdd UI, I'd like this one to work but... - Version: 2.8.5, 8/18/2008 08:34PM PST

The Eck
To the developer (which I tried to send in there "contact" email form.

1. I use an Epson Perfection 4990 (firewire) scanner that works
in other applications. Its driver is recognized by PDF Studio
but PDF Studio complains that the scanner won't work.

2. What on earth are you using for this "send us an email" window
where there are no automatic line feeds when the typing reaches
the right edge of the window? We are forced to return to the old
days of the typrwriter and do manual carriage returns and line
feeds? WTF?

3. What's with all those icons that clutter up the menu choices?
It's truly difficult to make a choice, especially when some choices
don't have icons and others do - the choice isn't justified to the
left and looks like somebody decided to tack on eye candy.

4. The "Okay" buttons have the letters "Ok" on them, which
represents the phrase "zero kilobytes," referring to how much
memory is used or available. The correct way to represent
the term "okay" is with two upper case letters - OK.
======
I'd really like to have a program like this but until it works with a common scanner like Epson and they get rid of all those cheesy menu item icons (or expand the extremely limited preferences, which strangely is listed under the "Edit" menu to include the option of turning off the 90's looking icons), then I'll have to use something else.

This is the best PDF combine application I have tried. The developer is extremely professional and interested in addressing user comments and suggestions. Highly Recommended.

I create architectural floor plans. My clients like me to send them copies of the 24" X 36" plans in pdf form. CAD programs will not combine sheets into one file. Unlike word processing or other types of files that are one scrolling file, CAD pages print one at a time. It was difficult for my clients to understand why I would have to send them 7 pdfs instead of one.

PDF Clerk solves the problem by quickly and easily combining all of the pages into one pdf. Problem solved - no more complaints from clients.
