Gallery Designer CommentaryFrames, Tables and HTML = YUK! - Version: 1.0.3, 11/10/2006 06:44AM PST

Ah yes, taking a giant step backwards in time we find a potentially nifty littly multi-media gallery maker that utilizes such cutting edge design elements as frames, tables and HTML.

It does produce a very quick gallery and so for that alone, it's worth looking in to, but it won't win any awards for being up do date in the coding world.

Gallery Designer Commentarysomeone below said there are a lot of these apps about - Version: 1.0.2, 11/10/2006 01:04AM PST

there may well be many such apps about, but unfortunately [IMHO] the quality is pretty poor; unbelievably error prone and impenetrable file structure [gallery], hideously ugly [coppermine], clunky and unreliable [jalbum], nice results, but irritatingly unfriendly to work with - and seemingly now defunct [webphotospro], not to mention shutterbug, iview and iphoto... god knows, i must have tried them all over the years and in the end abandoned them all for a home-made template and photoshop's "create web gallery" action.

the market may be crowded, but until someone comes up with an application that can do photo galleries in a mac friendly way, generating clean modern code [no more nested tables, please!] and not locking me into some impenetrable format - if i decide i want to move to another app, the quest continues.

so i welcome another 'player'in this field. judging from previous reviews, gallery designer won't fit the bill for me either, but the more people try to build the perfect gallery app, the greater the chance that eventually someone will get it right!

Could not import TIFs. Output rather... homely looking.
