leftblank-:o)Re comments below:
• yes, there are lots of updates, so turning the autoupdate off and using versiontracker's RSS is the best option for keeping up to date ....
• err, yes, if Aurora's set to 'wake from sleep', then it pays to send your Mac to sleep! Otherwise, it'd be a bit like arranging to pick the children up from school in the afternoon, and forgetting to send them to school in the morning!
Which reminds me ... I have to go!
Short comment: Aurora is the best iTunes sleeper and alarm that I have ever tried.

Not a Mission Critical Alarm

SolamnusAurora is free - and that's nice. This app, however, sometimes decide to just not go off, thereby totally nullifying its purpose as an alarm. There are three main problems I have encountered:
Auto-update. Aurora wakes from sleep, finds that there is a new update, and instead of playing the music to wake me up AND posting the new update message, the new update message prevents the music from playing = late for work.
Wake from sleep... or not at all. If you set Aurora to wake from sleep, you had better actually put your computer to sleep. If you don't, Aurora won't run. No more overnight downloads.
Random errors. Sometimes I wake up naturally, an hour past the intended time, and find that Aurora just decided it couldn't play such and such a music file in iTunes.
The feature set looks great, the developer seems to be actively improving it due to the large number of updates (which prevented my music from playing... until I turned off autoupdate) but this app fails in the most fundamental area -- wake me up. If these error were fixed, I'd be interested again.
Now plays correct channel in EyeTV

Thanks so much, just what I was looking for.
I don't take my Mac to bed with me so it was great to be able set the alarm and for AirTunes to direct the music to the speakers by my bed. In this release you can no longer do that. All output comes out of the Mac no matter what set of external speakers I use. So it seems that Aurora is bypassing AirTunes.
The other backward step is that Aurora seems to no longer pick up the playlists on your iPod if it's connected to iTunes. I manually manage my music so invariably my most important music is on the iPod because I listen to that more than iTunes.
So now the search is on for some better software. Bad move on the part of the developers.
