This is the first PDF batch tool for InDesign I've used that actually works. I'll continue to use it and give feedback.

BatchOutput CommentaryCan't get it to work - Version: 1.2, 6/6/2006 08:53AM PST

I'm unable to get this script/application to work (using the downloadable demo). I followed the instructions and copied the BatchOutput app to my ID CS2 folder and have the script inside the scripts folder so it shows up in the palette, but when I double-click the script nothing happens. Well, actually I get the beachball for about 1 second, then nothing. I quit and relaunched ID several times but no go. I'd really like to get this to work. If it does, my company might consider purchasing multiple licenses.

I'm trying version 1.2.

BatchOutput CommentaryLimited to Multi-Page Postscript Files - Version: 1.0, 4/28/2006 12:12PM PST

brad.roberson
Think I was under the misconception that the software would write the documents as single pages. I use a version of Batch Print for Quark that not only will print multiple documents at once but it will also print multi-page documents in single page postscripts. We provide single page PDFs to our printer on a monthly basis for the production of our magazines. Unfortunately the BatchOutput 1.0 software couldn't meet my needs of having the pages with-in the documents treated as individual files. Work around: Take the multi-page PDF created from BatchOutput and do a "save as" selecting the file to be saved as an EPS file. EPS files limitations force the files created to be only one page each. Then taking the EPS files rendered and re-distilling them to create single page PDFs. This ads 2 extra steps to get to the end of the process.

OVER ALL-The software performs as advertised. It prints multiple Indesign documents in one single step. Unfortunately it can't meet my needs of single page PDFs.

Hope it can meet someone else's needs more than it did mine.
