This download is an .exe file, it doesn't "run" on Mac OS 10.5 - Version: 2.1, 6/5/2009 08:51AM PST

So the operating system it runs on is not really Mac OS X Leopard 10.5, but Windows itself. If you want the BootCamp assistant that runs on Mac OS X Leopard to set up a Windows partition, then it only comes with the Leopard disc itself

If this is the 1st software on the top downloads list... so, what Mac today is??? Software like this makes Mac the same calculator as PCs are.
BTW: Anything that can be done on pc-windowz can also be totally done on Mac with Mac OS (requires opened mind)...

Not clear that apparently I need to install windows before installing this update, or am I wrong?
slipstreamed Windows XP with SP3 - Version: 2.1, 11/15/2008 01:11PM PST

Will this allow for installing a slipstreamed XP with SP3 already included? Or does one still need to start with XP and SP2, and then do the SP3 update?

There must be something I am missing. I would have thought it pointless for any user wishing to substitute the excellent Mac OSX with the more primitive Windows.
Equally crazy is use of IE on a Mac with the sinister Activex file embedded that allows uploading of information for obscure marketing.

No problems with Apple Boot Camp 2.1 - Version: 2.1, 11/7/2008 04:07PM PST

I just wanted to say that I recently updated my Boot Camp with 2.1 and it worked absolutely fine even though it takes a few minutes to completely run through and restart, etc.. Go have sandwich or something for a while. I was reluctant to update with the 2.1 since I have no problems with 2.0, but I like to stay ahead of the game when I have time. So, no issues and everything is running fine. I primarily run VMware's Fusion with Windows Vista Premium along side Mac's Leopard 10.5.5 and don't need to run the native Boot Camp version of Vista Premium at all, but I keep it up to date just to to have a Windows backup plan.
Happy holidays to all Mac users and thank you VersionTracker for a great website.

No problem.
Straight up Boot Camp or within VMware.
I only wish my external iSight was fully supported and that they would develop a piece of software for Windows to see my Mac partitions.
Cheers!

I tried installing Windows XP using Apple Boot Camp and I get two major errors that render this program useless.
Users of OSX10.5 might want to wait for a serious update from Apple, since this latest 2.1 upgrade does nothing to solve those two problems.
Basicaly, when using the Bootcamp installer as is, you'll be able to install Windows, but then you'll end-up with a disk error when Windows boots, because Bootcamp does a partition and only "fakes" the proper Windows formatting.
The manual says you have to format the drive in Windows instead, but it is very hard to do so (often the right setup screen doesn't show up) and if you succeed. Chances are you'll get the dreaded missing "hal.dll" file that will prevent Windows from booting anyway. And this one last bug is almost impossible to recover from, in spite of what some smart posts say in the support forums...
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. IF YOU DO. BACKUP EVERYTHING AND PREPARE A HUGE JAR OF COFFEE FOR YOUR LONG NIGHT AHEAD :)
