UnPlugged Troubleshooting ReportGrowl issue - Version: 1.8, 6/25/2009 12:49AM PST

shaun Bellis
Hi guys,

I have just installed this app and on first glance, it looks great and is useful. However, I use Growl (as does this app) but for some reason, the notification stays on until physically closed by clicking the cross at the top.

I use growl for other apps without this issue. I would hate to loose the functionality of this app because of this - can anyone help?

UnPlugged ReviewUnPlugged has saved me from myself any number of times - Version: 1.8, 9/2/2007 09:47AM PST

I've been using UnPlugged since I found I was out of power not having noticed I had become unplugged (the MagSafe plug is easy to come out when sitting in the living room and watching TV). UnPlugged has worked great both telling me when I've become unplugged as well as reporting battery charge when I am unplugged.

I also like that it can use Growl. I never really Groked Growl until UnPlugged started using it and now I've found other personal uses for Growl.

I've not installed it on my Wife's MacBook Pro.

This is a useful little utility for those using portable Macs. version 1.4 and 1.4.1 had installation problems but these seem to have been fixed in 1.4.2.

Growl support is very useful, as Growl itself has configurable alerts. The sensing of plugging/unplugging is very swift and this new version van even give you alerts as your battery charge drops (user configurable) so it'll let you k ow how things are going battery-wise.

It's free, does what it says on the tin and uses almost nothing in the way of CPU cycles. I've tried a few of the other utils that do what UnPlugged does but they don't seem to do it as well.

I've put in a feature request for optional audible alerts on unplugging and apparently it may be in the next major release. Responsive developer, which is good.

Is it really necessary to limit this to Tiger? Couldn't it be compiled with Panther as an additional target?
I blame Apple for not making the the suggestion in XCode to compile as default to all compatible OS X versions. It's making the OS X experience splintered! Bad Apple!

Just wondering, unless there is a battery backup in place, the Mac will shut off when unplugged. So how does this work?
