I agree with a previous comment asking for parsing normal phrases into dates and times. This feature is available in the new google calender, and is fantastic. If I could have this ability on my mac to spit out into ical I'd be one seriously happy camper.
Take this even further: If you have an email selected, still enter plain english dates/times and have the email referenced in ical. Man that would be sooo hot!
