Product Description:

User specified capture size - The user can easily specify the size of the video to be captured, using an intuitive 'see through' video preview. Just drag the corners around to specify the size, and hit enter.

Fixed or follow mouse modes - Sometimes you'll want the capture rectangle (think of it as a movie camera that tracks your mouse) to follow the mouse, and other times, you'll want to capture just one area of the screen. iShowU can do both.

User defined audio/video quality - While internet connections are getting faster, it's still going to take a while to transfer a 5GB movie to your Mum. iShowU compresses audio using AAC, and video using whatever method you think it appropriate (it defaults to H264). In addition, you can specify the quality of the video to your liking.

Custom frame rates - When there's not much going on (i.e: you're not moving the mouse, just speaking) iShowU will capture at a lesser frame rate. When you start moving the mouse around (and the capture rectangle follow it) then it'll use a faster frame rate so that the motion looks smooth. Saves on bandwidth too!

Simple - iShowU is designed specifically to be easy to use. If you don't want to customize anything, it'll work straight out of the tin. All you have to do is hit 'Record' and you'll have a nice little video on your desktop in no time.

What's new in this version:

The various actions to change the capture area size (1/8, 1/4, full screen etc) now base their sizes of the screen under the mouse (useful if you connect a projector, then suddenly need to resize to the smaller screen space).
Fixed a long standing issue (cheer!) that caused skewed/slanted video on some machines.
Fixed the bug with crashing at the end of recording sometimes.
Fixed another bug whereby the sprite track might not record properly all the time (would only happen on fast machines, like the Intels).
Fixed problem with the quality radio buttons, whereby they were disabled on machines with no microphone inputs, and would not become enabled when "record system audio" was checked.
Shortcut boxes in Preferences now have "delete" buttons, and correctly detect if you're trying to use a shortcut that is already defined.
Fixed the capture rectangle handles (they are much easier to click and move now).
Fixed the annoying behavior whereby if you were fast enough you could move the "edit capture area" rectangle, release the mouse button, attempt to move the rectangle itself (using the hand icon) and end up still moving the last moved rectangle corner).

My number 1 complaint with Snapzpro was that you could not change the temporary cache folder location. I dont know why they think people want to use their OS drive as a scratch disk?

iShowU you allows you to easily change the temp/scratch disk location to another drive.
iShowU also easily allows you to choose QuickTime compatible formats/ codecs for easy output.

iShowU is also cheaper, even the pro HD version is cheaper than SnapzPro.
Both normal and HD versions works on Leopard 10.5.7 at the time of me writing this.

Great to see Kiwi developers working hard.

I have used this program for DVD production and archiving video lessons from online sources. It is one of the best shareware programs in my application folder. This newest version promises to get rid of renamed files....works for me!
