Product Description:

Plaxo for Mac synchronizes your Mac OS X Address Book with your Plaxo Universal Address Book. Wherever you install Plaxo for Mac, your address book will be consistent and stay up-to-date automatically. You can also access your address book on the web through Plaxo Online.

On Mac OS 10.4.x and newer, Plaxo for Mac also offers the ability to sync your iCal calendars to Plaxo Online (and on to any other Plaxo sync points, e.g. Google Calendars, Outlook, etc) For iPhone users, this is a real boon as your contacts and calendars are now kept in sync on your phone, desktop and the web (and multiple Macs and PCs should you have more than one computer)

Plaxo for Mac will no longer attempt to sync with iCal if Calendar sync is turned off in preferences.
Pulse notification time augmented by 20%
Minor tweak to Pulse view in Address Book when selected contact has no associated email address
Removed JaJah themed call buttons from Click To Call plugin panel
Added a close button to the Pulse Notifier window
Improved error handling during calendar sync for some circumstances

Seemed to be working OK for about 3 weeks after duplicating everything in my address book the first time it synced, but this morning it had tossed a LOT of info and dumped other stuff into the 'Notes' section of the address book. (sigh) Finished fixing the MacBook, now the iMac. (sigh) Disabled Plaxo on both computers and online.

Plaxo has got better over the past year or so. Has some nice features--integrates with Mail, allows you to turn off the warning when quiting, etc. However, it wont stay quit. Somehow, the cursed thing keeps relaunching and synching. I do not like apps that think they know better than me what I need/want.

VersionTracker links to an ancient file, which you should not bother with. I finally found the direct download link for the current version of the Plaxo toolbar for Macs (v. 3.7.8) --

So, you should not have to waste time logging in, etc. just to grab this latest post.

From the ReadMe file:

System requirements
Plaxo for Mac requires Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or later and an active internet connection to sync your data. iCal sync and Apple Mail plug-in require Mac OS X version 10.4 or later.

Installing Plaxo for Mac
1. We don’t anticipate any problems, but please backup your Apple Address Book and iCal calendars before you continue with this installation as a safety measure.
2. Double-click the Plaxo for Mac installer and follow the instructions that appear.
3. Don't forget to check out Plaxo.com, where you can always access your data.

Known Issues:
Smart Groups are not usable as Groups to Omit from Sync.
