Use SaverLab to run Skyrocket as an application - Version: 1.2.1, 9/7/2006 05:55PM PST

There's a separate application called "SaverLab" that can be used to run Skyrocket, and other screen savers as well, inside an application. You can even run multiple instances of Skyrocket at once in SaverLab. You should be able to find the app here on VT.

This absolutely one of the coolest Fireworks screensavers out there available for download. The developers did an absolutely great job creating a realistic fireworks screensaver.
Even on my Mac mini Core Duo with the "crappy" shared memory Intel video-card this looks amazingly cool, I can't stop looking at it. Good work...

This is probably the most awesome screensaver I've seen. Works great on my Macbook 2Ghz/2Gb with defaults on, but starts to get bogged down as you add more effects (understandable considering the processing power it must require). I agree with some of the comments--I would like to see a user defineable ground image option as well as a sound delay option, although to be more realistic, the delay should vary depending on the distance between the fireworks and the "spectator." In other words, the closer the camera is to the action, the less delay there would be. One other suggestion would be the ability to sync with music playing on the computer. That would be killer.
I would love to see a standalone app version where everything is user defineable, including rocket selection & sequencing, camera angles, locations and music sync. Be your own fireworks display designer! I would totally buy that program--just don't make it too expensive.

Fantastic saver...one suggestion

This has been one of my favorite savers for a long long time. One suggestion for the developer: I'd love to be able to add my own higher res ground texture. Or possibly increase the res of the one included.
Thanks, and keep up the great work!

The Rage 128 minimum requirement is a theoretical requirement. Skyrocket requires hardware 3D acceleration and will definitely not run on Macs that use software rendering, such as the Bondi iMac. Unfortunately I only have a limited amount of hardware on hand, and I sold my last Rage 128 card years ago, so I'm sorry I haven't been able to directly test it on the card.
As for the sound:
1. The "delay" in the sound is there because it is realistic. The speed of sound is much, much, much slower than the speed of light. If you go to a real fireworks show, you're always going to hear the fireworks some time after you see them because they exploded a far distance away from your vantage point.
2. You can turn the sound off by setting the volume to 0, which is the default setting.

Works great and looks amazing. Perfect for the 4th of July.
Sadly, after finally upgrading from a G4 PowerBook to an Intel MacBook I've found that this saver studders horribly on my 2.4GHz C2D with 4GB RAM.
The price is right, and I hope the developer updates this very cool saver.
