Apple Mac OS X CommentaryYes! My HP scanning software works again! - Version: 10.6.2, 11/11/2009 11:34AM PST

When I first installed system 10.6, the only way the scanner would work was through Preview. There was no OCR and the quality was not what I was used to. This update fixed that. Otherwise, no problems.

Apple Mac OS X Troubleshooting ReportScreensaver problems - Version: 10.6.2, 11/10/2009 12:46PM PST

Since updating to 10.6.2 my iPhoto screensaver does not work anymore. Or at least it takes a very long time before the screen saver starts (half an hour for some larger picture folders). Also when I select a picture folder as a screen saver the screen saver and/or System Preferences stalls completely and my system's blowers ramp up. It seems as if the pictures screen saver doesn't use spotlight anymore but does a file-by-file search. With my photo library with over 50.000 photo's that's taking much too long. Before updating to 10.6.2 the screensaver was working effortlessly, starting in seconds. Reapplying the combo updater and rebuilding the spotlight indexes does not help.

Apple Mac OS X Troubleshooting ReportSerious Finder problem still not fixed - Version: 10.6.2, 11/10/2009 06:59AM PST

We recently purchased a new (late 2009) iMac with 10.6.1 pre-installed. It is unusable (with our set up) as the Finder continuously crashes. However, when booted from an external drive running 10.5.8, all works well. Seeing that this issue effected others (see: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2135129&start=0&tstart=0), we were hoping that the 10.6.2 update would fix this issue. Unfortunately, it didn't. We're now seriously considering erasing the main drive and downgrading our new iMac to 10.5.8 permanently (or at least until there is a 10.6.x upgrade that is guaranteed to solve this issue). We clearly won't be updating any of our other Macs (including our Server) to 10.6 any time soon.

At least now when I repair permissions, all the messages about things that cannot be repaired are gone ! Does this mean everything is cool ? Why was it not before ?

This update went ok, but WHY IS FRONT ROW STILL 32-BIT?! I would have expected to see Front Row grow to be more Apple TV like in its interface, but it seems to languish...

Apple Mac OS X ReviewPiece of unreliable junk - Version: 10.6.1, 10/31/2009 03:32AM PST

On top of everything keeps forgetting system preferences - I need to reconfigure trackpad preferences between 3 to 10 times a DAY. The crappy OS NEVER goes to sleep by itself - if I forget to put it to sleep good chances that I'll come back to a turned off computer with 0% battery. I am really getting tired of 10.6 and seriously start thinking of upgrading to 7 - and I mean M$ 7 !

Apple Mac OS X ReviewBluetooth mice ... - Version: 10.6.1, 10/25/2009 07:36AM PST

This is my second comment on 10.6.1 - the horrible ... I have a M$ bluetooth mouse as well as apple bluetooth keyboard. Both lose connection all the time - of course when the computer goes to sleep - but sometimes even when it doesn't. The bad news are that while in the bluetooth menu for the keyboard there is a "connect" option, for the mice there is only the option "open mouse preferences" where you need to re-pair the mouse in spite of the fact that the mouse was paired previously. I tried to remove the mouse and re-pair it, tried after restart with cntrl-P-R, it just doesnt work. I would love to blame M$ for that, but I know that the mouse worked nicely under 10.5, so its clearly Apple's fault and not M$.
