SOHO Notes ReviewMuch much better than you would think from other reviews - Version: 8.08, 11/25/2009 09:04AM PST

I know that it's fashionable to knock Chronos, and I also know from bitter experience that in the past most of that criticism has been justified. However I have to say that SOHO Notes is an immense improvement on their previous products.

I have been searching for a notes application to replace my much-loved copy of NotePad Deluxe (not Intel native and has some problems with SL) for a while now, and of all of them out there (and there are quite a few) SOHO Notes is the best by quite a long way. The UI is excellent, the feature set is extremely comprehensive, it's fast, and best of all the app itself is very stable.

I have had minor problems; FlashNote quits on occasion and an issue with form notes which are encrypted losing their data, but other than that it really is excellent. It's not perfect (I've got a long list of suggestions!) but it is better than any other notes app at present that I have looked at.

Just for the record - this version does not use OpenBase but Apple's CoreData, which is fast and stable. Also, as mentioned by another reviewer, there is a lot of detailed info on their blog as to why the iPhone app, NoteLife, is not out yet, and it really doesn't look like it's Chronos' fault but down to Apple's cumbersome review process. Take a look at http://www.chronosnet.com/blog/index.html.

SOHO Notes ReviewSupport/Application - Version: 8.08, 11/24/2009 01:05PM PST

In contrast to the previous posters, my experience with support has been relatively good, except for the post-Version 8 launch time frame.

With respect to Notelife, if you read the blog on their web site, you'll see that the delays have all been related to the App Store approval process, and they're pretty up front about the delays.

I've been using this app since StickyBrain days, and no matter how many other note takers/organizers I try I keep coming back to this one because it is, IMO, the best, most comprehensive solution to my needs.

Is it a Five-Star app? Probably not, but there have been so many mean-spirited reviews on VT about this company that I feel compelled to provide some counterpoint. It is at least a 4.5-star app right now, and when Notelife is incorporated, it'll be awesome.

SOHO Notes ReviewSupport is non-existent - Version: 8.07, 11/19/2009 02:54PM PST

OK, see my earlier reply to the "Support MIA" post. But, just got a note from Chronos saying they are *40* days out on support replies!!

Be warned - the product is reasonably good (though the companion app "Notelife" for the iPhone is still vaporware months after it's announcement), but you will not get any support from the company.
