Product Description:

Now for the first time, Mac users can organize and manage today's onslaught of information, even across multiple computers, with a natural user experience and the reliability expected from Bare Bones Software. Yojimbo revolutionizes information organization for individuals by providing an effortless mechanism to collect, store and find information as needed. An encryption subsystem allows customers to encrypt individual data items for storage, without interfering with ease of retrieval. Yojimbo encrypts data using the secure AES-256 algorithm standard. Its simple, flexible storage system allows for additional, personally-defined organization of data. Support for Mac OS X's Sync Services synchronization provides data portability for .Mac account holders, making irrelevant which computer was used to access, add or modify an item stored in Yojimbo.

What's new in this version:

  • Fixed a bug where column widths weren't correctly restored when running on Leopard.
  • Worked around a PDFKit bug which caused the PDF display in Yojimbo's main window to get "stuck" on PowerPC machines running Leopard.
  • Worked around a bug in PDFView which caused the following mis-behaviors on Leopard:
  • After selecting a PDF item, selecting any other item would clear the undo stack
  • After selecting an encrypted PDF archive, selecting any other item would result in the display remaining "stuck" on the PDF archive. (N.B. This issues resulted from a different cause than the "stuck" PDF problem which occurred on PPC Leopard machines.)
  • Fixed a issue which could cause the Quick Start Movie to come up blank when played within the application.
  • Fixed a problem which could intefere with migration to Yojimbo 1.5 from Yojimbo 1.2 and earlier.
  • Fixed a problem where PDFs were imported as notes instead of their native type if a PDF -> RTF filter service was installed.
  • Adobe Illustrator files are no longer included as a readable image type. (The system service we use - ImageIO - advertises them as a readable image type, but in fact it can only generate thumbnails from Illustrator documents.)

I love Yojimbo. I have used it daily since its release. But I have found its exporting options to be lacking. There is a great AppleScript here that will export Yojimbo's data to a TiddlyWiki. Thus it becomes portable across operating systems.

I was very disappointed with the failure of the developers to have Yojimbo remember the width of the columns. Each time I launch Yojimbo I have to reset the width of the columns, it is very frustrating.

I also wish that when I use one of the Yojimbo bookmarklets via Safari that Safari would remain the active application instead of Yojimbo becoming the active application.

However, Yojimbo is an awesome utility and I am very pleased with the speed increase when searching Yojimbo.

Keep up the great work....
