Although it would be much easier to purchase this product as a download, it is great. I am not a graphics expert by any means. Color It is great and easy to
use. I had been looking for a program where I could change photo's; add faces,
change bodies, and that type of stuff. Color It does that and more. I recommend this program to anyone.

Color It! CommentaryThis is a GREAT! application! FORGET FOTOSHOP! - Version: 4.5, 7/29/2006 01:01PM PST

Photoshop is the industry standard for true professionals. However, "for the rest of us" we need fairly high level, easy to use software which will quickly and easily correct picture sharpness, re-size, correct color and all the usual photoshop tricks such as put someone else's head on your body, change backgrounds, and the like.

This is a GREAT product!! I have been using it's little brother: Color-It! 4.0 for YEARS.

One item so far: my old plug-ins don't work yet. May have to re-invest or find a work-around.

Buy this product! and Have fun!!

Color It! CommentaryDownloadable Demo Version Coming - Version: 4.5, 7/24/2006 11:03AM PST

In response to those who wondered why a demo version was not available for Color It! 4.5, it is in the works. The process of getting the OS X version out (basically an entire re-write of the program) has taken so long and there were so many people who were anxious for it that we wanted to make it available as soon as possible. So we didn't wait until the demo version was done. Rest assured there will be one there soon!

You will find Color It! is a fast and powerful program that is very intiuitive and easy to use, and is a great value for the price. We also have a 30-day money-back guarantee so if you buy and and discover you don't like it, you may return it within 30 days of purchase.

Color It! CommentaryPet cemetary? - Version: 4.5, 7/23/2006 12:27AM PST

I used Colour It 3.5 (i think) extensively in the 7-8 years ago - it was great for image manipulation and would run filters etc. I can't remember it having layers etc, and probably lacked some of the advanced photoshop features even then. But it did run in a very small RAM footprint and was great for low end computers (LC II any one?).

Seeing this software being brougt back to life does bring back heart warming memories, but i can't help but feel it's a bit like Pet Cemetary - you know the dead should be left dead but the temptation to bring them back to life is too great. Only when it's too late do you realise that what has come back is not the same (often a twisted and evil version :) as the original article...

I remember trying this program a long time ago when Photoshop was still at version 3.0. I found Photoshop extremely difficult to use at the time. Color-It by comparison was a breeze and was very powerful as well. I could do just about anything that was possible in Photoshop, at a much lower price. I probably would have stuck with it if it had been updated regularly.

Definitely worth consideration and, according to my recollection, more usable than Photoshop elements. Hopefully has a good tutorial that ships with it, even though it may not need it.

Color It! CommentaryFinally in OS X - Version: 4.5, 7/22/2006 04:56PM PST

Color It was a highly rated program under OS 9. It's good to see it finally make it to OS X. Though it has been so long that, as the previous poster demonstrates, many people won't remember it's earlier reputation. For all practical purposes, then, it is a new program. I agree, there should be a "trial" version available so people can take a look at it and see if it meets their image editing needs and expectations. If the developer expects to make any money on Color It X, he will make that available.

When are companies like this one going to realize that if they are going to charge that much for a program, they had better well offer their potential customers a downloadable demo? No person in their right mind is going to blindly spend $60 on a program, without testing the water first, unless they are filthy rich, and just don't care about spending $60.00.

Most of us do not fit into the filthy rich category. Our money has value for us, and we want to make sure that we are getting value first, and that the product will truly meet our needs. I find the idea of just taking the company's word for it, that their product is good, a bit ludicrous.

I went to their web site, only to find out that their download area is, according to them, still under construction. Perhaps I am wrong, but that clearly sounds like a gimmick to get people to spend their money without knowing what they are getting. Perhaps it would have been wiser to set up your download area first, make a 4.5 demo available, and then post your update news here on VersionTracker.

I'll pass on this one.
