If you have ever used a trial version of Spell Catcher on your machine, and later deleted it, just downloading Speak N Spell will cause an error message to appear every time you launch virtually any application. Most annoying. Speak N Spell's Young denies any responsibility.

Speak N Spell ReviewNeeds a different voice - Version: 1.2.0, 11/23/2006 11:54AM PST

This is an excellent program, but the female voice is too soft and the words are difficult to understand. The male speaker, however, is very clear and understandable. It would be nice to be able to select different speakers to pronounce the words, when one is not working, perhaps another will be clearer. Keep up the good program, otherwise.

Both of which add up to a good review. This little app will do everything the author states. It is a helpful "drilling" tool for those pesky weekly spelling tests my seven year old takes. Since all life is a computer game to him, he digs using this app.

The ONLY thing that detracted from it was a lack of the ability to customize the interface to be less disruptive to the people around you, there is this long applause clip that indicates a correct answer that is loud even at low volumes and is necessary to indicate whether -or-not the user was successful.

The author was very responsive to my questions and suggestions regarding possible improvements in this area.

A well-done simple app that does what it says in an elegant way.
And the price for this software author's hard work? FREE

What more could you ask?
