Flip4Mac WMV ReviewTO INSTALL WITHOUT SILVERLIGHT..... - Version: 2.3.0.14, 11/4/2009 01:56AM PST

Right-click (or Command-click) on the Flip4Mac 2.3.0.14 installer and Show Package Contents. Then just delete the Silverlight installer! It worked fine for me on a Late-2008 10.6.1 Intel MacBook. WMVs play in QuickTime, and when I double-click on a WMV file in the Finder it opens in QuickTime. It is unecessary, and both Microsoft and Telestream are friggin' EVIL for sneaking it into this app.

Flip4Mac WMV CommentaryCreating Silverlight with Flip4Mac - Version: 2.3.0.14, 10/16/2009 10:15AM PST

The purpose of Flip4Mac is to play as many types of WMV on your Mac as possible. Since Microsoft implemented Silverlight you must have it for media wrapped in that player. Without it, a whole bunch of folks may start complaining," Flip4Mac can't play . . ." Silverlight ensures that you'll play those files since Flip4Mac can't. NetFlix instant view is a good example.

and . . .

You CAN create Silverlight with Flip4Mac.
Once your file is in Quicktime 7.x Pro (must be Pro)
File>Export>
In the Save Exported File As box
Export to Windows Media
Click on Options
You'll see four tabs
Video, Audio, Content, Silverlight

The Silverlight tab allows you create a WMV wrapped in Silverlight
just as one might create an FLV in a Flash Player.
