Product Description:

MFworks combines the most highly demanded elements of grid based spatial analysis into a simple and efficient tool. It provides a powerful suite of analytical and modeling capabilities with a user-friendly interface. MFworks is perfect for new and experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) users who are interested in creating their own solutions to spatial analysis problems.
MFworks represents an easy-to-use toolbox for the analysis and visualization of spatial data. This desktop application is an excellent complement to vector based GIS tools. It can also employ unique analysis features as a stand-alone product. The intuitive interface makes it easy to master the system quickly and to creatively explore spatial processing ideas.
MFworks is descended from a long line of popular grid/raster GIS packages like MAP II and MapFactory which were created by Keigan under the name of ThinkSpace Inc.
The grid based family of Keigan products are used by researchers, analysts, engineers, planners and educators interested in the relationships between geographical elements and events.

What's new in this version:

  • When in background the MFworks application would increase CPU utilization substantially. This has been fixed.
  • The "Paste" item in the "Edit" menu would not be available when attempting to paste text into a script. This has been fixed.
  • When attempting to launch MFworks under system OS X 10.1 a blank error message alert box would appear. Now and appropriate messages is displayed notifying the user that MFworks requires 10.2 or higher.
  • FlowAccumulation Operation - The error message regarding invalid flow directions was missing causing a blank alert box to appear. This has been corrected in version 3.0.2
  • InterpolateCRS Operation - The tension help string was too long for the display area. The string has been reformatted in version 3.0.2.
  • Orient Operation - Module would not properly offset resulting orientations based on input map azimuth. this has been corrected in version 3.0.1.
  • Combine Operation - Module went into infinite loop if more than 32, 000 zones in output. This has been corrected in version 3.0.1.
  • Warp Operation - Module would report "inconsistent geometries" if the warping geometries were very close to each other. This problem has been fixed in version 3.0.4.
  • TIFF Translator - This translator will now import 24-bit images without reducing color depth to 15-bits. The resulting values are proper 24-bit color values. This enhancement is in version 3.0.4 of the module.
  • Score Operation - The frequency table management code has been rewritten to support larger numbers of combinations between the zone and data maps. The operation performance has also been improved when using large maps. These changes are in version 3.0.4 of the module.

MFworks Commentaryvery good software, now gone forever - Version: 3.0.1, 6/1/2008 10:04AM PST

This was a very good title, probably the best raster GIS package for the Mac ever. But it is now gone - sold to some other company and this company doesn't reveal who now owns it - and the company is completely out of the software business.

best Geographic Information System (GIS) map processing for the Mac. Easy to use and very powerfull. If you don't need to deal with single objects, you might never more use ArcInfo and alike. Neverthless, the interface is perfectable and not at the level of its functionalities
