Check out the features that will get you on the web:

  • Live, Rich Text Editing: No 'Preview' Necessary
  • Drag and Drop Website Assembly
  • Stylish Designs (over 40)
  • Build and Publish Your Own Weblog
  • Innovative Pagelets Provide Micro-content on Your Pages
  • Share Your Photos Online

  • Publish Your Site on Any Provider â€â€ÂÂ? or On Your Own Mac

What's new in this version:

  • Designs now included appropriate viewport settings for optimized display on iPhones.
  • Fixes to SFTP publishing, via ConnectionKit improvements courtesy of Scott Gruby.
  • Fix for publishing to CommunigatePro FTP servers.
  • Fix for timeout errors during host setup and/or publishing that affected a small number of servers.
  • Index pages of collections now support comments directly, in addition to each entry in the collection.
  • Improvements to generated HTML and some pagelet templates.
  • Fix for unwanted characters appearing at the bottom of pages when using Google Analytics.
  • Minor improvements to several designs.
  • Updates to translations in most languages.
  • Fix to RSS Badge pagelet where selecting a non-icon style badge would interfere with publishing of other resources.
  • Improvements to Amazon List pagelet: product previews, and product preview popups, should now work for all stores; removing a product code now immediately updates the inspector.
  • Fix for putting link (anchor tag) around entire contents of Text pagelets without removing non-text elements, such as embedded images. Note that some designs highlight the anchor when it is around the entire pagelet contents, others do not (including the default, Aqua).
  • Additional fixes for putting links (anchor tags) around deeply nested spans, including images.
  • Changing a site menu title now properly marks all pages for (re)publishing.
  • Fix for incorrect URLs of scaled images (_large size) in RSS (XML) feeds. (RSS feeds should no longer indicate missing images in photo albums and photo weblogs.)

Too bloated and a complicated UI.

Wasn't Karelia Software bought out by Sun?

A lot of people who have a need for decent web sites but don't have a budget for them usually end up with something that simply doesn't carry much "Google Juice." Funny that since our friends with the funny name are essentially the holy grail of search. Most simple-to-use web design programs seem to ignore this fact and make poorly coded sites that make real web designers cringe.

Not Sandvox from Karelia Software. This affordable and easy-to-use program takes full advantage of the Mac interface while also incorporating all the search engine optimization functionality you need.

While there isn't everything you'd find in something like Dream Weaver, this program is also logical and makes sense. I own Dream Weaver too but more often than not I'm using Sandvox. It's simple, effective and lets me get the job done without navigating Adobe's byzantine menu and palate system. Yuck.

Here are some of the sites I've done in Sandvox for your reference:

Sandvox Commentary"Stuck" On Watson? - Version: 1.6.2, 6/2/2009 11:52AM PST

For those who can't seem to get it through their heads, here it is again:

What happened to Watson was NOT Karelia's fault.

They held up their end of the deal, and continue to do so to this day. If you want to complain about the death of Watson, go complain at SUN, and rip on their products.

Blaming Karelia for SUN's decision to re-neg on their agreement to continue to produce Watson is like blaming the newspaper carrier for the fact that your toaster stopped working.
