Product Description:

Stellarium is free GPL software which renders realistic skies in real time with openGL.

With Stellarium, you really see what you can see with your eyes, binoculars or a small telescope.

Stellarium is also used in planetariums.

What's new in this version:

This is primarily a bug fix and stabilization release. Apart from bug fixes, users can expect to see improved start-up times and a new sky culture (Tupi-Guarani) as well as some progress with translations and overall stability.

This is a great freeware app. I have not had it lock up or crash once on my system.

Works very well in Leopard 10.5.1 on a PB G4/867 - Version: 0.9.1, 1/17/2008 12:00AM PST

I've had no problems with this program -- and it is proving really spectacular here in North America in the winter -- the only time in the South that we can see the night sky clearly. The program hasn't 'hung' my system, 'though it takes a substantial amount of RAM. I wouldn't want to run this on a system with under 768 Mb installed.
