Product Description:

SOHO Organizer is the official successor to Personal Organizer and Group Organizer and represents a 100% Cocoa rewrite of the former products. This means SOHO Organizer presents a first-class Mac OS X experience complete with all the features Mac OS X users expect: Aqua interface, Unicode compliance, built-in spell checking, Service support, etc. Finally, the true benefit of a complete Cocoa rewrite is that SOHO Organizer is built for the future and can easily accommodate future technologies (think Intel-based Macs).

SOHO Organizer makes managing customer relationships from phone calls and notes to appointments and to-dos easy. It embraces and leverages popular Mac OS X technologies and applications instead of trying to replace them. For example, it synchronizes seamlessly with the Address Book and iCal so that users can continue to use them and other applications that rely on their data. Users can thus use Apple's iSync to synchronize their contacts and calendars in SOHO Organizer to cell phones, iPods, Palm handhelds, and even .Mac.

Added a Journal view for keeping a daily journal in which entries also show up in SOHO Notes

Fixed problem that would cause contacts to not appear after restoring a backup file
Fixed several issues related to contacts not showing up or showing up after being deleted
Fixed problem with the wrong number of contacts in shared databases being displayed
Optimized the initial loading of contact data
Administrators now created shared calendars in a calendar view instead of the Database Manager window
If the administrator is logging in and is in violation of the number of licenses, we now let the administrator continue using the software so he/she can adjust access privileges accordingly
When exporting a single contact to a vCard the default name for the vCard file will be the contact's name
Moved the ChronosCalendarService helper application into the SOHO Organizer application bundle
Personal database names now use an underscore character in place of a space character in the user's short name
When typing a person's name in the Relationships block, the person's Title is now ignored when auto-completing the name.
Auto-complete in the Relationships block is now case-insensitive
Taking a shared database offline no longer deletes the address from a contact record.
Fixed problem that would sometimes prevent contacts from being deleted
Made improvements to the vCard import
Typing a space character in the attendees text field no longer ends auto-complete early

This product is seductive. The idea is great. Unfortunately, the execution is awful. Don't buy Chronos Organizer under any circumstance, no matter how tempting -- over the long run you'll waste time and energy. The product is irredeemably buggy, and the customer service is worse than bad -- it basically doesn't exist.

I bought version 5 years ago. It was buggy, a complaint common among users at the time. I stopped using the product and skipped version 6 because the reviews were so bad. Version 7 got better reviews so I tried it and was reasonably satisfied, although it always felt like the details of the program hadn't been thoroughly thought through.

Version 8 looks better -- for example, you can finally view phone calls and e-mails associated with a particular contact. In theory. In practice, I haven't been able even to save records of phone calls made because of a variety of error messages. Worse, the upgrade wiped out all previous phone records. E-mail to customer service goes unanswered -- and others note that it can go unanswered for weeks. Chronos has no phone, so there's no way to discuss or register displeasure. (They used to have a user forum, but discontinued it because of the incredible volume of complaints.)

I've seen many posts over the years which in effect say: use Chronos if you want, but beware. But my experiences with it is that the product and the company are so disfunctional it's better to avoid them both. Buy or use another product -- you may not get all the features that Chronos claims to offer, but you won't invest in a product that all evidence suggests is never going to be any good, and you won't give money to a company that refuses to even acknowledge its customers.

organizer (incl notes) version 8.07 seems to work better than previous versions - the worst bugs I had identified (incl data loss in organizer calendar syncing and editing note titles in notes) seem to have been resolved. Grab to notes function is still very erratic and organizer is still catastrophically slow however (much worse than notes). also, of course, no sign of notelife, five weeks after it was submitted to apple...

Stay away from Chronos. I tried to use SOHO Notes/Organizer and for 23 days of the 30 day trial is was buggy and unstable. Finally better and company has ignored my repeated requests for a trial extension and now is ignoring my requests for help to get out of SOHO the material I had put into it. The phone hasn't answered at all in the two business days I've tried and there's no point in submitting a new support ticket.
