AppZapper CommentaryI used to love this App, but... - Version: 1.8.0, 2/23/2009 06:10AM PST

DocArtemis--2008
I have to agree with the comments about this app's developer. It doesn't work in Leopard and there is no excuse for it not being updated by now!

I am looking for something to take its place!

AppZapper CommentaryHazel is better - Version: 1.8.0, 1/26/2009 02:54PM PST

Hazel is the best, non-intrusive app remover program I've used so far. And it can do a lot of nifty things to your data.

AppZapper CommentaryThere are far better alternatives - Version: 1.8.0, 3/31/2008 01:13AM PST

I'm sorry buy AppZapper is a rip-off. AppTrap does exactly the same thing for free, while CleanApp is cheaper and does far more than AppZapper, including logging installs to actually delete _everything_, archiving uninstalled apps, removing preference panes and widgets, and deleting useless portions of universal binaries. Given the alternatives out there, this app's developer needs to lower the price or add some features or there's simply no point to it.

AppZapper ReviewBuyer beware - Version: 1.8.0, 3/13/2008 07:43AM PST

decent app but flakey developer who isn't committed to the products he sells. When he loses interest he drops development and support (but will still gladly take your money) while he hypes his next way to make a quick buck. Don't believe me? Look at this app...last update over a year ago, Disco still doesn't work as advertised (and lots of hype around that and he stuck around for a month then *poof*). My Dream App, he was a part of that and after 2 years there are a few mock ups and he abandoned his part in that too. Flakey....caveat empor.

App Zapper doesn't work in Leopard. When I wrote to customer support they admitted that it would need to be updated.

What are you guys waiting for?

AppZapper ReviewWorked fine until... - Version: 1.8.0, 9/16/2007 06:24PM PST

This seemed to work fine -- I kept checking up on it to see what it was deleting, and it was more or less doing its job. Then earlier today it trashed my entire Preferences folder AND my Application Support folder at both the user level and the volume level. Five hours later I'm still trying to sort out the wreckage. Needless to say, I'm going back to the old-fashioned manual delete method.

AppZapper ReviewGood, but CleanApp is much better. - Version: 1.8.0, 7/31/2007 09:00AM PST

I have tried all the uninstaller programs (Its a mystery as to why Apple does not include an uninstaller in the OS) and AppZapper is good, but if you want a truly complete feature set go with CleanApp. CleanApp also has a logging Daemon which even uninstalls files that don't contain the app name. (another reviewer pointed this out) From my personal experience CleanApp is better.

AppZapper ReviewVery handy tool but a bit unstable - Version: 1.8.0, 4/16/2007 08:13AM PST

I like AppZapper but I think it is a bit unstable and prone to crash during drag& drop.

I can only say that this is OK. Some stuff gets uninstalled completely, but I still get some cases of it missing some stuff. One big good point is that I have never had it find something that is NOT a part of the program to be uninstalled, which means the author made it to be a safe uninstaller. Essentially, this program helps you to do a quicker search and find of associated files and folders which can be done with finder or spotlight searches. With AppZapper you can then often delete something with one zap. Whereas with regualar searches you have to search one file at a time. However, I recommend still doing a search with Spotlight or other search program after running AppZapper because you will sometimes find files or folders not found by AppZapper.
