I like the way the game plays. Received quick response from David.
Well worth the money!

Acey Deucey is a great game in itself, but David has produced a great version! I first learned how to play the game while in the Navy back in the seventies. It was just wonderful to have stumbled upon this game for the Mac! I am not a big "computer game player" and before now, I had no games loaded on my Mac...Its now the only game I have on my Mac!!
Great Game

Glad to find this. Now I can practice up alone.
Would like to find a cribbage game as good.

I was so happy to find Acey Deucey. I played backgammon on the computer because a good Acey Deucey game wasn't to be found on the pc. (i'm new to mac, I've had it less than a week.) I think the game is great fun. It is not as polished as his seperate Absolute Backgammon game but when I made comment to the developer he genuinely listened to suggestions. I missed a doubling cube and a concede option and he told me concede was coming but that he hadn't considered a doubling cube in Acey Deucey but would think about adding it. How often do you actually get to make suggestions on games that you buy?!? I just wish this guy had more games!
To the guy who said it wasn't challenging enough. Try the Absolute Backgammon. It is tough competition and if you don't think so.... please don't tell me.
Wonderful version of an old favorite

I took up backgammon again after a LONG absence, and then my partner persuaded me to try Acey Deucey. We play the analog way--outdoors, on the patio and I needed a way to practice but didn't want to play online.
This game is the perfect solution for me. It has an elegant interface and it's tons of fun. Yes, it's pricey, but well worth it for the enjoyment. And the the computer suggestions are a great learning tool.
To the reviewer who believes the computer opponent plays poorly: All I can say is that I'm challenged. There is a LOT of luck in Acey Deucy--that's part of what makes it so enjoyable (or infuriating!). Games tend, I think, to be won or lost by big margins. All I can say is, if you play enough, I think you'll find plenty of challenging games (and plenty of bad, as well as good, luck.)

Excellent game! I learned it in the Navy but have not played it in many years. This version is fun and the graphics are excellent. I like the many voices you can attach to your opponent. The best thing about it is the willingness of the author of the game to assist in the installation. For me it is a five star, two thumbs up winner of a game.
good interface, poor game play

I think it plays Acey-deucey very poorly.
I have never played Acey-deucey before, and know nothing about strategy except what I figured out myself during game play. I do have some experience in backgammon, which undoubtedly helps, but in general the strategic considerations are very different.
I played on the default setting, which is the highest skill level. I completed ten games. (Several games were aborted before completion, because the game is in demo mode, as I have not paid.) In the ten games I completed, my results were: Won by 15, Won by 5, Won by 15, Won by 15, Won by 4, Won by 12, Won by 11, Won by 15, Lost by 10, Won by 2. (Total score: 94-10.) When a first-timer trounces you that soundly over a series of ten games, you suck. Either that, or I got *very* lucky. That seems unlikely over the course of ten games. If it can't give me a good challenge the first time I ever play the game, it probably can't give a good challenge to much of anybody.
In fairness to the author, I imagine that programming a computer to play this game well is a staggeringly difficult challenge.
The interface is very pleasant to use. Unfortunately, if the computer opponent can't give me a good run for my money, it's unlikely to hold my interest for very long.

Being a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer the price is well worth it.
