Product Description:

Screen Mimic 2.0 allows you to create screencasts (recordings of your Mac OS X desktop) that can be saved as Adobe Flash (SWF), Flash Video (FLV), or Quicktime (MOV) files. These files can be easily uploaded to a website, used in a kiosk system, and many other applications.

Screen Mimic is a great tool for creating screen recordings, flash demos, software training videos, application demos, and more.

What's new in this version:

  • Significant performance and memory use improvements during recording, especially on multicore/multiprocessor machines
  • Audio/video/mouse will now all remain in synch regardless of how busy your computer may be during the recording
  • Fixed bug preventing many audio files from being used as a soundtrack in SWF/FLV export
  • Temporary recording files now stored in Caches by default, and should no longer be left hanging around after quitting
  • "Hide recording area guide" and "Recording area follows mouse" settings now respected when making multiple recordings back-to-back
  • A round of general UI polish across the app
  • The usual variety of general tweaks, improvements, and fixes

Screen Mimic CommentaryVery expensive - Version: 2.3, 6/3/2008 09:46AM PST

Same feature set as iShowU more or less.

Three and a half times as expensive.

iShowU has a more congenial interface (for me).

Ouch.

A lot of these screen recorders don't have reviews as people find one good one and can't be bothered troubling with the others. They all have high ratings from the first seeded reviews.

Only plus is that as the developer of Synk, the guy has staying power.

I didn't really care for Synk in the end either (couldn't do what I wanted simply, and ended up just doing everything in SuperDuper, although SD wasn't quite the right tool for the job, at least it works quickly and reliably).

Do yourself a BIG favor and download FLVR. Your pain will be over. Your going to be blown away how good the quality of a youtube video download is even on older macs.

Screen Mimic was a waste of time and money as well as ALL the other video capture apps were including Snapz Pro.

A good program but the pictures of the recorded sequences come in wrong colors. How can I fix it?
