Product Description:

Chax is a collection of minor modifications and additions that make using Apple's iChat more enjoyable. Features include:

Unified contact list shows all contacts from all accounts in one window
Growl notifications for new messages and users changing status
Automatically resize the contact list to fit the number of visible users
Built-in log viewer
Activity log that displays your contacts' status changes
Auto-accept file transfers, AV chats, and screen sharing requests
Toggle text status visibility of users
Always on top option for contact list, message windows and AV chats
Set font of names, status messages, and group separators
Option to auto-accept text chats, skipping new message notification window
Show status changes directly in the message window
Additional unread message notifications in the dock
Automatically go away when the screensaver activates
Properly use ICQ accounts without sending text formatting in messages

What's new in this version:

Options to disable the screen saver when receiving a new text message or AV chat
Options to auto-hide the contact list and message windows when iChat is inactive
Clicking a Growl status change notification now opens a new message window
Improved search results when searching with the log viewer
Unified contact list now functions when waking from sleep
Fixed a crash that could occur when disabling an account
Moving a contact into a new group now properly updates the unified contact list
Installer will no longer crash when running on Mac OS X 10.4

needs at least 10.5 - Version: 2.2.2, 11/1/2009 06:44AM PST

When I try to install it, I get the message "incompatible system version, needs at least 10.5 to run", and I am running 10.6.1, so what is the problem, exactly ? Do we need a Snow Leopard patch ? Is there an update in the pipeline ?

Am I remembering wrong? Thought I saw it a while back.

I have 10.4.11 and would like to get it if it were available.

One of the most overlooked features in Chax is the ability to auto-accept Screen Share, specifically set to certain other users (like just yourself).

Where could this be handy? If you travel with a laptop and suddenly realize that you need a file from your home Mac, it's now easy. Just keep your home Mac on, and then from your hotel in Bombay or Sydney or wherever, Screen Share into your home Mac. You can copy files over to you, print stuff from your home printer (for your partner to fax out, etc). It's just a dang cool feature.
