Product Description:
D2X-XL is an enhanced version of D2X, the OpenGL modification of the classic 6dof shooter game Descent 2. D2X-XL is available for MS Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. It is well documented and maintained.
Although D2X-XL contains a lot of enhancements and new features, it is still fully backwards compatible to every other Descent 2 version. As many fixes restore features of the original Descent 2 that were missing in D2X (like availability of all cockpit views, or working mouse steering), it is even closer to them than D2X itself.

What's new in this version:
- Fixed: Couldn't load Descent 2:Counter Strike any more
- New: Improved UDP/IP networking integrity (missing data packets will be re-requested); can be toggled in more netgame options or toggles menu
- New: New menu element 'gauge' (can be used like Windows progress bars)
- Improved: Tracker query for game hosts trying to create a UDP/IP game via tracker
- Improved: Tracker availability check for game hosts
- Fixed: Tracker availability check only performed for game hosts when trying to start a UDP/IP game via tracker
- Fixed: When trying to start a network game w/o selecting a mission, you get an appropriate error message now
- Fixed: Starting D2:Vertigo via the singleplayer mission selection list didn't work
- Fixed: Built-in missions didn't have Descent version numbers printed in front of them
- Fixed: Descent:First Strike end briefing played at end of every other Descent 1 mission
- New: You can now use mouse and joystick together
- Fixed: Couldn't always shoot through openings in grates
- Fixed: Boss robots getting too close, making them appear to charge
- Fixed: Crash when passing too many command line arguments to D2X-XL

Right now D2X is stalled at v 1.13.84 for OS X. While work continues on Win and Linux, without a Mac the developer is unable to fix a few critical bugs in this otherwise-excellent game.
If you enjoy Descent please consider making a donation to the product. It doesn't have to be as big as mine, but a few bucks here and there from enough people can help him move the Mac version forward again, keeping us all happily playing D2X for years to come.

BTW: I'm a donor to the project; I think you do good work, it's been really great getting back into D2, and with your efforts it's better than ever. Hopefully more folks will donate to keep the motivation flowing - I gotta imagine maintaining and enhancing this is a big task.
Otherwise, the improvements have been impressive. v1.14.XX shows some serious improvements.
