Apple Broadband Tuner Troubleshooting ReportKernal Panics - Version: 1.0, 7/6/2006 10:32AM PST

I've attempted to use this since day one, and each time I come back to try it out the installer/uninstaller gives me a kernal panic a few minutes later. I otherwise NEVER get kernal panics. You wouldn't think that such a simple installer would do this, but thats been my experience. Just wanted to give a heads up.

Using a dual 2.5Ghz G5 running Tiger.

I'm currently at Mac OS X 10.4.7, but I've tried to use it with many previous versions as well.

Apple Broadband Tuner Troubleshooting ReportBroadband Tuner...How do I uninstall or remove - Version: 1.0, 4/2/2006 05:45PM PST

I installed Broadband Tuner but find no evidence of it anywhere on my Mac. Other postings advise that it has an uninstall program or can be deleted. I ran the install and then rebooted and then still found no evidence of installation. I ran the install again to see if it prompted for a removal option but it installed a second time the same as the first. Since I installed twice will I still be able to regain the original settings that the uninstall is said to set back to the previouis settings before install or will it see the first install settings as the previous of the second and use those as original.

Apple Broadband Tuner Usage TipVery HIGH SPEED (T1 etc) and Americans only - Version: 1.0, 2/13/2006 06:50AM PST

(9 of 10 users found this comment useful)

Ilgaz
You will make your connection horribly unreliable if:

1)You don't have a VERY HIGH SPEED connection
2) You don't live in USA near a very fast backbone (I speak about sub 10ms ping replies to big sites)

It increases RWIN to a unheard level except University networks, big corparate networks.

I am not saying it is bad but read the word "For very high speed" and I hope it has a built in "uninstaller" which is easily usable by non techie end users.

Apple Broadband Tuner ReviewWMP Buffering Improvement - Version: 1.0, 2/5/2006 08:15AM PST

I have data going back several months for my cable upload and download speeds. After installing Broadband Tuner, my numbers are the same-- no difference.

HOWEVER, I can now view Windows Media Player files, within Safari, all the way through without the player STALLING OUT because of BUFFERING. This is the only software I have downloaded recently, so I am sure that Broadband Tuner has improved the WMP (within Safari) experience for me.

Apple Broadband Tuner CommentaryTuner crashes - Version: 1.0, 12/3/2005 01:35PM PST

Broadband tuner worked great for about 20 minutes, then the screen grayed and a black message appeared "You must shut down your computer." This occurred endlessly beginning about 20 seconds after re-starting. The cure was removal of the application.

I had no problem downloading, installing, or testing this product. Nothing broke, as all my apps continue to launch just fine. However, my testing on dslreports.com showed no change what-so-ever to my network speeds. Maybe you'll have beter luck with your speeds.

Apple Broadband Tuner ReviewNo speed increase noted here - Version: 1.0, 11/30/2005 03:16AM PST

Afraid to report no speed increase, if anything slower on test downloads. Have to report that Broadband Optimiser works bettr with a noticeable increase in page renders and speed testers. try both and make up your own mind as both are free and easy to install/uninstall. pity as a new direction for Apple. Does not appear in Software Update. kent1 Australia
